Honestly guys, i really dont feel the need to keep repeating my self. You know many fans were dissapointed. If your okay with that then keep doing what you were doing. If your not okay with that then change.

The ball is in your court not mine.
Why is it in my court? I'm not promoting Formula D... I just participate in it because I like competition. Is it soooo wrong for drivers to participate in a series for a chance to compete against some of their best peers?

My point was, you have to look at the overall aspect of the series. From a fan perspective, many of my friends who came out to support me had a great deal of fun. Some of them don't care for girls or car shows, they just ignore it. Some of them hate rap music, but they just ignore it.

So.... their opinion versus yours. From my perspective, you cannot please everyone so the only thing you can do on an individual basis is go out and do the best you can, and not worry about anyone else.

I even appologized to FD. Goodbye Alex.
What is your name? STFUAD? Tell me what that stands for. Who is the one contradicting here? I still consider you my friend and want to talk to you, just feel you went about this the wrong way, and i know you probably think the same of me. I post stuff like this to get a reaction and to make people take a step back.

If my post offended you, then i hit the nail on the head. Alot of you really dont know whats up in this drifting world we have and your opinions are cool when they are construtive. This post really shows how stupid everyone in this community is, including the fans and the drivers. If we all cant agree what we want to see, and agree on how we can get that to happen, then we all are wasting our time here.

To me, I'm going to drive anyway, it doesnt matter if its on the mountain, at the track, in front of people at big events with half naked chicks and show cars. That doesnt matter, if you cant see past that stuff that payed for us to be there, stay home and watch the good parts on video. You just dont get that smell of rubber but you will see it anyway without paying entry fee.

On a side note, i dont know about the rest of the drivers but i didnt see as many hard core fans in the crowd as i did at the other events. I did get a good amount of people come by and talk but it really didnt seem as many where interested in the drift cars and setup as much. Maybe because we are in the home of HIN.

      • Alex - This thread wasnt about the drivers. Stop taking offense to this. I agree with you using your name and changing the situation. Lets face it, YOUR name along with many other great drifters was used to promote a HIN style event. Do you see your face on the Formula D flyer?????? Negative, I see nameless people and MCs taking credit for what you love, drifting.

If you want a "how about them drivers" thread, JEEBUS man ill make one for you.

We all know what you guys did and what you all are really capable of. The people who know about drifting went for that reason.

::edit:: The hardcore fans left early because they werent seeing what they came for.

        • Mr. Pfeiffer, I know you know who I am... I talked with you on several occasions...

Anywho, I was interested in your car, but since you made top 16, it was impossible to talk with you as you were sitting in your car ready to run most of the time... I didn't get to talk about your Haichi Roku as I wanted to since you were driving the RS*R car also. I really didn't see much of the drivers hanging out in the pits. When I was walking around in the pits, there was a driver's meeting. Hell, I was waiting to take a picture with Verena Mei, when she was briskly escorted to the driver's meeting...

Anyways, I think Irwindale was a great experience for me. As for others, I think it had alot to do with expectations and involvement. I tried to make myself involved. It was quite interesting. Also, I had high expectations of watching the drivers duke it out again. I was praying that Sam wouldn't win. When I saw Forsberg against him, I was sure that Chris would loose...

Stuff like that... Alot of the fans that posted negative comments in this thread posted commments like that to the previous thread about this Irwindale event before it happened... Again the same posters are taking the same sides.

I really think it's a matter of expectations... I came to have a great time in California and I did... The RC crap, the announcer, etc. none of that really bothered me since I was there for the cars and to talk with the legends behind the stories... I couldn't wait to talk with Alex about suspension parts and with Ryan Hampton about his racing career...

After hanging out with the guys, I found out a lot of them are not what I initially expected, but they're all great guys who really love doing this stuff. I respect these guys more for what they do passionately in life. These guys love racing just as much if not more than anyone else on these forums...

As for Formula D, I had a great time. The models were gorgeous (although skimpy... Dress Code please...), the sun was blazing, the guys selling tickets were jerks, the show cars were out of place (what is FF car or a truck doing in a RWD car event?), security was cool, etc...

          Matt.

          • Okay, this thread is done...

I have just got off the phone with Alex P. and we have talked the whole thing through. There are things we disagree wholeheartedly on and things we agree intensely about. He called me because he wanted to resolve this issue which is awesome.

I tried to end this thread in my post where I apologized but it just kept on going.

We are all entitled to our own opinions but the way they are expressed makes all the difference in the world.

Alex wanted to come out strong in his post because he is tired of some of the stuff that is posted.

He knows that I will not back down from what I believe my opinions are but we both agreed we came off pretty harsh.

Anyways, no more name calling, no more personal attacks, just semi-intelligent responses people.

Winding Master was right, this thread did veer way off topic and mainly because of myself and a few other people.

I was a post-whore on this one, I admit it and I apologize to the members of this board for it. I have edited and/or deleted some of my more "abusive" posts.

The beef is just with how the event was promoted and run. People want to see drifting, and they want to support the drivers and the event, but they don't want to have to suffer through crazy car shows and other such.

Don't take criticism of the event as criticism for your driving and other efforts.
Totally. If anything, the drivers did an awesome job, especially Alex, Sam, Chris, and and Rhys. They gave us our money's worth!

                • Yes, Kevin and I got to talking and we are still friends.

Matt, I'm sorry i didnt get much time to hang out. That day at the shop, i was so pissed and not in the best talking mood and i thank you for respecting that. I really love guys like you who make an effort to go to the events and keep an open mind. Im a fan of you more so than you are of us. What you said in the last post i think sums up what we love in this sport. The people we get to interact with. Screw the haters and the bull we have to deal with but just get down to the parts we love.

                        • I think the SCCA did good for the sport and are doing a good job promoting the series... naturally there are some things that will be corrected down the road but for the time being they are doing a good job trying to establish a fan base....

I will be excited to see what is going to happen with this series next year.

                          • Damn good JOB ALEX!!!! Never seen an S2000 so sideways lol! I have no problem with the drivers just wish it was a lil less F&F like. But if that's what it takes (which I dont think is true) then I'm all for it, heck where do I sign up for the car show!

                            • This a very typical thread that this site has. Someone throws up a complaint or is upset about something like, "Drifting going to NASCAR" or "Drifting too commercial?" etc etc, The threads usually lasts for quite a few pages, then then everybody calms down, maybe a few appologies, then the thread closes. It's always the same thing. None of you ever bypass thant and go to the source. If you have an issue with a driver PM him or call him. If you have an issue with US PM me or call me. This endless ranting and raving does no one any good and half the time what is said is so off base.

For the record, HIN added some good content to the event. Our post event wrap-up showed that their name had no bearing on the success fo the event. We track every promotion we do and know what came from where, hence me saying we may reconsider how we integrate them from now on earlier in this thread.

Oh and as far as not using guys like Alex for promoting.....

Do you see your face on the Formula D flyer?????? Negative
Yes, all the top eight drivers were prominently on the flyer as well as in the flash on the homepage. We even have a drivers page on the website showing who these drivers are. Oh and when you walk into the event and you pick up and evnet guide do you see one page dedicated to anything else but drfiting or the drvers? No. That's all we did. We even ran movie teaser in the top 8 theaters in SO. CA with footage we had from the past three events promoting drfiting and the drivers. Having an open forum like we do and a direct line with us anytime should show you a thing or two. No one on this forum can call up D1 and have a conversation with them. The fact is this forum is the minority of people that drifting touches, however I treat you guys with the same respect everyone else gets. We will go far and beyond anything anyone else would do for our drivers and sponsors and consumers whenther you believe it or not. The proof is in the pudding. We spend mor ethan we should on production, we help our drivers anyway we can financially for them to make the races. We offer up more prize money than any other series, we are creative with sponsors and we know how important they are. Bottom line is we try to do everything we can and most importantly our intentions are to promote drifting in the right manner. If you asked anyone in that crowd on Saturday what they did they woudl say they went to see a drifting event. The focus was there and not anywhere else. Agian our lines and email is open.
