  • History of drifting

Hey. I'm doing a project for school about drifting. Does anyone know of a good source that outlines the basic history of drifting?

    Thanks

drifting as a sport, or the technique?? The technique has been around since the beginning of motorsports, but the sport is only recently. Don't forget to include that, the japanese may have invented the new sport of drifting, they did not invent the technique.

Go to the www.drifting.com homepage, scroll all the way down and look left, under "More Information"....click it, read about the history of drifting there.

www.driftclub.com/DriftKing.htm Here is a brief history of Keiichi Tsuchiya who helped bring drifting into mainstream motorsports. As for historys of the sport I cant help too much if I find any interesting sites under my favorites ill edit this post.

By the way what model volvo do you drive? My dad has had an old Turbo 240 for 13 years.

might want to include that the first person to ever drift a car intentionally was Tazio Nuvolari. Before the time of aerodynamics, and even before wide tires, drifting (at very small slip angles! not showy drifts) was pretty much a necessity to be fast (ie. up until the 60's or so).

Yeah, I'd go with what kouki said, and check out the drifting.com stuff, and compile that with whatever you find on google.
