Not exactly F1 but something very similar...

even with 8Gs you can't build a super engine that can go to 12,000 rpms all the time except maybe a honda. it would still need lots of other things too but whatever.

I can get a 4AG 20v for $800 and I can contribute the rest to the engine. And I never mentioned anything about Honda, except the S2000 remark to that one guy. And I can do the same to a Honda engine.

For that 20v: it wouldnt be f1 specs, but you could make a VERY nice silver top for 8000 bucks.

Think takumi style from initial d

Most expensivep art would be the crank shaft of course. stock i wouldnt rev much past 8500 rpms, if you balanced it properly 9500 is a safe limit. passed that though youll need a custom built, or formula atlantic one.

Horsepower would be close to the mid 200s

Dude, thats what I meant by "like F1". I didn't want mention anything on Initial D cuz all you think it's taboo in this room.

mid 200's crank for 8000 bucks.

You think that's a good deal? Because if you do, you're numb.

Mid 200s crank for 8000? wanna pass that by me again?

If ur asking me if i think close to the mid 200s at the crank is good, on this engine.. yes. But you wouldnt need the full 8000 bucks, a few thousand less actually.

But yes i do think thats good.

Theres much more to an engine then torque and horsepower.

200+ horsepower out of a 1.6 liter engine which revs extremly high and has amazing throttle response isnt something to under estimate.

Id suggest a wolf 3d ecu (included in that price range) which is around 1500 bucks. Expensive, but the tunability offered by these things is awesome, According to a friend its the same type of system they actually use on f1 cars (not sure how true it is, pretty neat if it is though); theyre like a full car managment system.. look into em if youve never heard about them. Come with a small box you can hok up to them for basic tuning, but to do anythign serious you still need a lap top. They even include a device to run map, which youd need to run straight itbs off the 20v. Anwyays you get the idea.

When you are looking at sinking that much money into that motor, for that little result, I think it is time to consider a new powerplant or a new platform entirely.

over 100 hp per liter in a NA 1.6 liter engine? You could always turbo for more power, but the difference in na to turbo, just isnt the same. To swap another engine could easily cost twice as much as this engine (5-6 grand for everything) oh well im just biased. a car like this wouldnt be used for much other then track, other wise turbo would be your way to go.

                          Pretty much.

The only reason to build that motor is some sort of specific race class. Otherwise it is a waste of money.

Ok mr2, what the hell are you getting at? This is ther fourth board you've started that you preach about RWD, mid-engined cars. Has anyone noticed this but me? How old are you, mr2? Are you some kid in high school wasting our time? For god's sake, we know about mid-engined cars! Most of us have driven one! Don't start boards about what people think of NSX vs. Esprit until you've driven both and can give out information to n00bs like yourself! Do your research, and when you finally get a car, make sure it's one that you prefer, and don't preach or flame others because they like a car someone else dosn't!

actually MR cars are not extremely common so not all of us have. anyways this post seemed well thought out because MR is a very good setup (F1)
