      More Good News

www.fordracingparts.com is selling the 2005 Mustang as body-in-white for $3500.

Ford Racing is selling the largest aftermarket for a new car and all through the dealerships.. Here's the SEMA showcase of the product line:
      - http://seriouswheels.com/top-2005-Fo...erformance.htm

And for those that don't like the design of the new ford mustang, here's what I can tell. The thing weighs as much and has the exact same drag coefficient as a 2004 BMW M3. Design-wise, I'd say that's pretty damn important.

One more thing, the car is huge. I felt like a kid walking up to this thing. It was definitely designed for the "average american" in mind.

Man I would tow my f*cking car 6 times a year from GA to wherever and back for that.
Well you dont even have to tow your car to come to the Dragon this weekend.

Good point FreightPheen, its good to see people actually support Ken instead of bashing him. I wanna see someone In this forum go up against Ken who has hated on him.

The pics of the "Ford Racing Mustang" are at Mosport... my stomping ground...

Corner Five "b", leading onto the backstraight... man, I love that course.

sorry to go off topic... I am glad to hear gushi is getting picked up by ford and toyo. could be a good thing.

I have the feeling that in the future, the American drift scene will be seriously divided. You will have everything from purists who swear by getting sideways in in a 90bhp beat-up sponsorless hachis, to the USDM crowd who drift their brand new 300hp, factory backed mustangs, GTOs, and as I predict C6 corvettes, and all the other sects of drifting in between.
I personally dont like the fact that my favorite driver is driving in one of my least favorite cars but at least I know that the driver behind the wheel has the talent and skill to back his car up no matter how much I dont like it. Its going to be skill that moves this sport and the sponsors know that very well. If they didnt understand this theyd build up $80,000 racecars, add coilovers, a big wing, and put some JoeShmoe driver behind the wheel and say they have a drift team. So far I have not seen that from Pontiac, Dodge or Ford.

um pontiac has Rhys Millen who has been drifting b4 gushi and Dodge has Sam hubinett who has also been drifting on ice.... also Gushi is good I'll give him that but don't be pushed by the hype and media he isn't all that great this is what i don't like about the media.... his lines are getting a lot better but he doesn't know real racing lines as would Rhys or Sam...

Haha you all need to read what you've posted.

"Ken's skill isnt as good as ken's hype"

"American drifting will be segregated by what kinds of cars people drift"

You're acting like a bunch of vaginas. Step away from the forum. I'm assuming you're on this forum because you like to drive... so go drive or do something and dont go back on your computer for the rest of the week.

"Ken's cool.. but everybody talks about him too much". "Ken has a mustang, but I hate mustangs, so ken sucks, but I would like to see someone drift this mustang..." "Theres gonna be people who drift 86 hachis, and people who race mustangs, and they're gonna see eachother's cars and they're gonna separate eachother from one another."

What the hell are you on?? MODERATORS!! MODERATE THIS!!! These people aren't reading what they post so why should we?

Lol I'm actually gonna go out and drive on the "local togue" actually what i meant was i had to read it aloud to understand his meaning...

                        *edit
Ken is good like i said he's not as good as some others, but still to take a car towards a wall at 60 mph+ has to have some balls

maybe its just me who noticed this, but its kinda kewl that more domestic cars (mustang gto viper crossfire) are drifting in kinda a domestic drift league. not to sound like an as$, but kits kewl that american cars are in the FD league, thats kidna kewl to me...wow repeditive.

it's not uncommon for the text content of a press release to attempt to pawn off some claim like that... usually it's vague and not something that can be proven. other such terms that pr people love are "industry leading" and "first to market"...

as i say they are usually nonsensical and it's done soley in the hope that whomever purveys the press release to reuse as a news item doesn't edit that out and they essentially get a free advertisement.

sorry if that was long winded, but it's something i've dealt with very closely.

on the topic of the 05 mustang - i was lucky enough to be on the press launch for this vehicle. truth is i have hated mustangs for a long time. to me, i was like "what's the big? it goes kinda fast and can't turn - AT ALL!"

with with the chassis/suspension redsign the _classic_ knock on the mustang truly is gone. i wanted to hate it. i did. but you let the clutch out and the V8 does exactly what you are expecting it to... then when you finally do get into a corner (racing style not drifting style) it's predictable and not as heavy or bricklike as it's predacessors.

i'm new to drifting as you can see by my post numbers. so i can't project exactly what kind of hell they might be in with setups. i guess all i wanted to say was - unlike previous mustangs YOU CAN ACTUALLY TURN THIS ONE. so it may be more than just a good financial move for young mr. gushi.

it may be quite fun too.

                                peace,
                                rich
