You know, i like the mustang. It is a sweeet car, but i think all of these companys joining (GM, Ford) is not a good thing. I know its bringing money to drifting, and its bringing popularity too, but its leading away from the roots of drifting. Drifting use to be about takeing a low hp car (take an 86 for ex) lower it and give it a good lsd, and u can go out and drift aginst FDs and win. Now all these companys are bringing 400,450, and even 500+ hp cars to the table, and i just think its getting pretty crazy. Drifting should be about the technique, not the hp u bring.

Ken Gushi is my favorite drifter period. I'm sort of pissed hes driving one of my least favorite cars. As much as I dont like Rustangs, I do realize the fact that the new Mustang is an improvement over the older ones. I wish the best of luck to both Mr. Gushi and the Blue Oval the best of luck!

Years from now we are gonna remenise and preach to our grandchildren about the good old days when drifting a 120hp hachi was cool in America.

I think Ford is giving him a big bag of cash. Hell, if Ford gave me money, I'd drive a Pinto for crying out loud.Last edited by Craftsman; 11-05-2004, 09:59 PM.

On Gushi and the mustang... im not a fan at all of mustangs but im a big fan of Gushi. Id have to see it in action first. I think ill love the driver but hate the car.
And i rather see some beat up car with lower horsepower drift then some nice million doller s15. I think it also takes more talent when you have lower horsepower drifting on a race track. Like when you have 500 horsepower just tap the gas a little and you can change your drift angle while in like a 120 horsepower hachi you gotta use some technique to get a good angle.

you know., a lot of people on this forum confuse me. Everyone always talks about how drifting is so great because you don't need a lot of horsepower to be competitive and it's all about skill. And how it doesn't matter what your car looks like as long as you got skill and can drift it.
But then when someone does bring a big hp car to the table you start bitching about it even though it's all about the skill of the driver. And you won't like someones car because it isn't japanese (i know a lot of you do like domestic cars, not talking to everyone) It's just wierd to me, if you don't care what it looks like, who cares if it is a mustang.
Oh well, maybe i'm just misinterpreting* your meanings, but it just seems like it's like this all over the board.

"i am not happy about this.....yes i know gushi got the sponsership and the car, but i dont like to see him drive an american car. Ghost of Duluth said EVERYONE would take the sponsership if we were in his shoes...but dude with all do respects i wouldnt. and that comes from the heart man. sincere. no matter what anybody gives me ill never drive an american car. not that i hate them. i think drifting is starting to become like NASCAR. as monkeyslide says it "However it will bring with it the "NASCAR style" fan base whom are totally ignorant to Drifting as a competitive sport." i believe that same thing monkeyslide and i dont like it...i dont like to see a awesome guy like ken gushi do that, by that i mean driving a mustang, because money isnt what its about to me..and i hope yall feel the same. drifting isnt about money. thats why if toyo came up to me and offered me a sponsership and a 05 mustang i would say no. because its not about money. i dont like how america gets ahold of things. i know some of yall have good points like "everyone can do what they want" and "it doesnt matter about what car u drive, just as long as ur sincere" or "let american cars have their chance and lets try something new" but i dont think drifting should try nething new and i dont think the japanese do either. i dont think we should change drifting. i could sit here and type all day but im not....and ken..i dont agree with what your doing man but i still respect u and ur skills. i will always respect you and root for you......good luck ken gushi."Last edited by 240drftr; 11-08-2004, 02:59 PM.
