    • I bet some of the offensive comments here against Teckademics is just because of some underlaying jeaulosy both on they making their videos so big, and on the great cars the people drive.

Myself I respect their work,( altho i find some videomaterial just silly, and reputation worsening for car sports enthusiasts).

But I can see them as a source for inspiration, and wanting to doo this myself. But as I do it more and more, I experience how extreamly difficult and time consuming it it, to get a great product.

Onto topic and the car, I' think it's a wery stylish s14, but the green detail paint could really have been dropped, and the stickers sorted out in a more orderly fashion, so the car would have been more stylish, but less show-off.

      Still a damn nice car

study up on offset charts more, then you'll understand what i said.

on that wheel a lower offset will bring the wheel just far out enough if the wheel were skinnier. it will also give more lip. You gotta go by whats offered on a wheel chart. So do more research before you critique someone's wheel set up.

            • wow... how i missed this thread... and so...

BoozTT, i'll especially point this to you, as well as others tho, since I (I Love Sweatpants), know this guy personally and since I have had discussions with you before and I guess maybe you can respect my opinion. so i will give it straight...

Dan has been into drifting for almost as long as me, and he used to hang with our old group dRIFT_MONKEYS since like 99' or 00'. He was always a show kid tho and took it really seriously, so I always had a different kind of respect for the kind of work he put into that car, cause frankly, i wouldnt have had the patience to put up with half that show sh1t. Now with that said, he always kinda had the "drift look" but never would come practice with us or come to events, and it was very frustrating to me and Troy, who actually went out to practice on some streets and lots for 3 or 4 years, and who went to events every month for the past two years. I dunno if it was part of the reason that he felt maybe embarrassed to be new with such a hot car already, or whatever, but he just never came out.

Then, Dan started driving his car a lot harder and soon started realizing the error of his ways. IE. running 17psi on a 20g with stock 370cc injectors and an AFC, having all that power on stock brakes. We told him for a year that it was ridiculous, but he didnt listen, and now has a blown up engine because he didnt listen. I do have to say tho, with lots of pestering and cracking jokes, and influencing, and the fact that Dan actually started trying to drift, Dan is now changing his ways. Z brakes, new engine is being built up with all the right supporting mods, he realized the gayness of his HE's, he now ordered a Kaaz 2way after all this time, instead of rocking open diff, then VLSD for the longest time. So he'll get there eventually.

On another note, Dan is an amazing guy and a good friend. Many times he's been there to help me in a bind or help work on my car with me and is a chill dude to hang with. So nobody should ever doubt him or call him wack cause of associations he might have.

As for Mischief and Teck, frankly i dont care about all the stuff they do, so really i have no opinion, but the handful of guys i have met from there... Dado, Dustin, etc... are very nice guys and chill to talk with.

On a final note however, whoever on the first pages talking about this car being in comps and blah blah and all these events, frankly ive seen dan drive at like 2, so dont over exaggerate the facts. its nice that you guys want his car to be the "teck car", but i'd say let him build himself humbly and dont over hype... it just adds pressure to him when instead he should be out just having fun. 2 events is a nothing... he should hit 2 every month all year this year, then maybe u'll have somebody and something to market.

p.s. - 20g SR's are FASSSSTTTTTT, and too the kid who said to "downgrade", you are a d4mn clown, that turbo is amazing, and fine for drift once u have a general level of ability.

              • So basicially it was the shops thought of wider is better then to go the route of a skinnier wheel w/ lower offset?

                • Why is everyone on here keep trying to claim they been into drifting for X amount of time and I am more credible so and so person because my x amount of time into this sport.

So they happen to live in the middle of no where MD so it's not their fault it took a much longer time to get some type of exposure to this sport even though it's still scare I'm sure. Socal always sets the trends and then it VERY slowly moves it's way across the rest of the US if it even makes it all way through.

                  • Teck never intended to "market" anything..Dan is a friend of the Teck Guys and that's it..They just get alot of exsposure, more than most, so it might look like marketing, but in fact he's friends with Dustin and Dustin supports Dan and so does the owners of Teck.. nothing more.
If Teck wanted to "market" a drifter, they could come in and buy a pro very easily.
That's not what Teck is about.

True, So Cal did start street racing, but Drifting is from Japan, and I agree people who say, I have been drifting for x amount of years, are just trying to claim..it's pretty weak.
The funny thing about claiming drifting as So Cal is...
                      The Drift Alliance..
So Cal can't really claim it 100%..
So Cal is too caught up in HIN, DTM and Drag..
Back East these kids drive..all day all night..here on the West the kids have alot of other things to do like Action Sports..
Mischief and Teck is pretty much from back east too and they have sold more DVD's than anyone and by a huge margin too..
Teck was founded in So Cal though, and the creators were from the Action Sports industry, so it did have that influence.
Dado from Teck/DTM is building his M3 to drift and will suprise the f87k out of ppl this year..even the ones with gosh...3 years under their belt..
Dado has been drifitng for fun too for several years.

4 miles outside of D.C. isnt the middle of nowhere homeslice.

                        • When I say Middle of no where I simply mean a considerable distance from socal where the lastest trends are made or discovered as far as the car scene. Drifting as a sport of course was not started in Socal but definetly were the first to bring it into the mainstream and adapt to it.

                              • It's funny, how you guys make "4yrs" seems so long ago. I think it's just hilarious.

I'm not going to tell you how long i've been driving (or sliding? ), because it will just sound like BS to you guys. Good luck with you all guys, hope all of you becomes proficient in drifting without killing yourselves.

I know this is off topic, but I have to put this in.
Teckademic (sp?) staff, owner...I'm glad you guys are making money, that same way MTV j@ck@s$ made their money (street racing rules! ) keep up the ... work.

                                nice S15.

oh don't let the "joined date" fool you, if anyone remembers this site went down a couple times, and lost a few users a long the way
