I believe that is the Team Goldin Brothers car that raced in the Daytona 24. Powered by a 3 rotor.

I could've sworn that this photo is the original color of the car, prior to being built into a full race car. Do a search at rx7club.com and you'll definitely find a bunch more photos/info.Comment

It has been a while since we've brought you some good rumors, lies, and predictions. As you can tell, we've focused on Motorsports to fill the void of good rumors. Well, with the 2005 Tokyo Autoshow coming up next month and NAIAS in January of 2006, the rumor mill is in full swing. There aren't any good spy shots of RX-7 s around, nor are there any juicy 100% confirmed facts. Funny thing is, it is the same old stuff over and over again.Originally posted by Ghost

There is a group of dedicated designers and engineers who would love to put a shortened-RX-8-based, lighter rotary coupe boasting 280-330 hp on the road. With the RX-8, and Miata both filling "sports car" slots, it is not likely Mazda will launch an RX-7 anytime soon. The odds of the RX-7 coming back within the next 2 years are 10%.
Next up: something smaller, and a little more old school, and something we specuated about in 2003: the RX-3. The Japanese Magazines picked up on this story earlier this summer. We wonder if it was our article from before that gave them the idea of the story. Given Joe Bakaj's comment about sports cars, we are unsure. The odds of a Rotary Powered RX-3 coming out in 2 years are 40%.
Let’s not forget about the one Rotary Powered car on the market now: the RX-8. There should be some changes for the RX-8 by this time next year on the normal models, and with Mazda active in engineering, building, and testing the MazdaSpeed RX-8, this is the car to get to quench your thirst for rotary power. The base models will more than likely get a face-lift in 2006, some interior changes, and maybe some engine tweaks for better economy and power. The chances the MazdaSpeed 8 will hit the streets in the next 2 years is 75%.
Now, for something completely different! As any rotorhead will admit, our cars are not the most environmentally friendly beasts on the road. We use oil and gas like crazy, and the emissions can be eye-watering. Mazda plans to change that by using Hydrogen and using hybrid technology with the rotary. The use of H2 in the rotary engine is a good plan to wean ourselves off oil dependency. Not only will it be better for lungs in major cities, but it will also help with the peak oil situation: Hubbert's Peak. There are some very hard problems to solve about the production of hydrogen "fuel," that must be addressed before we have a "hydrogen economy." One of the problems is the fact that a good source of hydrogen is the very fossil fuels that are running out! But Mazda has other plans to make the rotary a more fuel efficient engine: by using hybrid technology. This technology should be on rotary vehicles within the next 5-10 years. There will be evolutionary concepts at the Tokyo Autoshow in October that showcase the advances Mazda has made. The chances of seeing a hybrid rotary on the streets in the next 2 years however, is 2%.

i remember when the 8 came out alot of people around my parts raged on it constently "its not turbo" "its a 4 door" "wha wha blah blah" i alwasy knew they had it in them to become beastlike except that damn headlight conversion makes me wanna purge myself....but other than that the majority of the cars posted are friggin sickComment

Interestingly enough, there are going to be more RX8's in the GT category. Instead of Goldin, though, the new cars are being built by Riley in partnership with Speedsource.
