i think he got banned because of using his d1 car in some cup races or something
I hear that rumor turned out to be false. In a Q&A with Keiichi Tsuchiya at the D1GP Round 1 media day this year, a question was asked about Ueo and his appearance in the 2005 season of the D1GP. Tsuchiya said that there was no such ban, and Ueo will be competing in later rounds, he just decided not to come to the states for round 1.

My theory: I'm pretty sure that Option will only cover the seeded drivers (top 10) transport of their vehicles to the states. Ueo did not do well in the 2004 season, and was thus not a seeded driver. In addition to this, it was made known that Kumakubo was going to be the new Yukes sponsored driver of a new drift WRX. Yukes was Ueo's main sponsor last year. Perhaps Ueo lost/left his sponsorship with Yukes, and as a privateer or under new sponsorship he was unable to come stateside for round 1. Anyways, if that's the case Ueo should show up in the subsequent D1GP rounds. I think he should bring back the Sift Racing Garage Corolla. That car rocked the house!

werd, ueo was badass but in 04 its like he was cursed big time. but that would be badass if he brought back the sift hachiroku. he had some crazy angles and speed and hopefully he makes a comeback this year.

Rhys Millen entered in the Falken Drift Showoff back in '03. There was no such regulation in the FDS series that excludes certain drivetrains, which would explain the Accord that entered that same competition. The WRX that is being built for Kuma-san is being converted to RWD, so that it complies with D1GP regulations.

It's gonna have a modified tranny/diff that will convert the vehicle to rwd. It is supposed to debute in Round 2.

Ueo cannot bring back that car, as it was already sold to an outside party. You can do a search on Club4ag, as it was recently posted. The new owner has kept the car in the same condition, with all the Sift Garage graphics.

BTW, I'm pretty sure that Option doesn't pay for the transportation of any the seeded drivers' vehicles. Most of the companies that transport their D1 vehicles to compete in the American D1 competitions are either in high point standings or are funded by some of the top aftermaket tuning companies. Apexi has a US version of the D1 FD. Kuma-san stores a couple of the older Team Orange cars in the US. If you've noticed, there aren't many Japanese privateers that come to the US. Hiroshi Fukuda almost didn't compete in Rd. 1 of '04, because he had a hard time finding someone that would pay for transporting. Also, sadly enough, APC did pay for transporting 10 D1 vehicles last year. That explains why Kuma-san had a big ole' APC vinyl on the S15.

Yeah I heard about him using his car in a race event..and I was told that it was just a lie and a rumor. People are saying he's still going to compete in the 2005 season, but I really don't know.

BTW, there is not really a need for a special tranny and diff. to convert a WRX to RWD. All it basically is, is disconnecting the FWD part of the AWD system. Some street drifters in japan use WRX's.

don't get me wrong, i have a lotta respect for nascar, but compared to racing around the world, nascar is one of the dumbest forms of racing.

I mean, they overcrowd the oval track, and all the drivers do is make left turns for hours (unless track is reversed).
