Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia brought in an estimated 5,000 spectators for Round 2 in the Formula D series. Driving for Team RS-R was Alex Pfeiffer in the RS-R Honda S2000.
Road Atlanta with its long straight-a-ways and tight corners proved to be a difficult course for the RS-R Honda S2000. During the practice round before qualifying, the RS-R Honda S2000 broke its differential; immobilizing Alex and the car from any further practice before qualifying began. While practice continued, the RS-R mechanics towed the Honda S2000 back to the pits and furiously began replacing all the necessary parts in hope of bringing the car back to life and back on track before qualifying ends, which would eliminate RS-R and the Honda S2000 from the rest of the event.
With qualifying already well on its way, RS-R finished replacing all the necessary parts and sends Alex and the RS-R Honda S2000 back onto the track to take on Road Atlanta. Qualifying would only allow the top 16 drivers into tandem battle, and advancement seemed difficult, as every driver performed flawlessly in their qualifying heats.
The RS-R Honda S2000 and Alex Pfeiffer proved once again to be a tough competitor entering the tandem top 16 as the number 4 qualifier of the day. In the next round, tandem battle was up against Daijiro Yoshihara in the Pacific Rim Nissan S13. However Yoshihara in the Nissan S13 defeated Pfeiffer in the Honda S2000 ending RS-R’s battle in round 2 of the Formula D series.
