CARSON, CA (April 17th) – Long Beach, California, where the streets of Long Beach played host to the Grand Prix of Long Beach. Formula D and Champ Car united yet again to bring drifting at its finest to the streets of Long Beach. This year's element was team drifting where 6 teams of 3 cars per team went out in unison performing multiple car drifts to the crowds.
Hitting the streets Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for 20 minute demonstrations on each day gave the crowd plenty of excitement throughout the weekend. The weekend festivities brought out another element of surprise for the spectators and drivers. Cell phone or email voting had been introduced, to where votes that people submit would poll the best team drifters. Only 18 cars were invited for this event, and RS-R had been invited to bring out 3 vehicles, a Honda S2000, a Nissan Silvia S14, and a Nissan Silvia S15.
Within the 18 cars, 2 teams were made, Team USA, and Team International. Each team had been divided in to groups of 3. With all the tires smoking, engines revving, slipping and sliding, everyone in the stands got up on their feet every time the drifters took to the track. The event left a great impression amongst race fans new and old to the sport of drifting. Bringing drifting back to the Long Beach Grand Prix Champ car event next year is sure to be on everyone's list, and all everyone can do is wait until then.
RS-R would like to thank their sponsors for all their support this year, America Honda Corp, Enkei, Lyndex Nikken, C-West, Sparco USA, AEM, Kaaz USA, Ogura Clutch, Proceed USA, Hiro's Auto repair, and Dynamic Autosports.
