TOPDRIFT BATTLE ROUND 1 started with practice and warm up. Each had 5 laps to practice before qualifying, heck everyone was practicing the day before. The judges were on deck, Henry Schelley, Taka Aono and Hiro Sumida. Taka and Mike “bomac” setup the course the day before – just the basic of practice course and shakedown. Then Competition day, Hiro Sumida and Henry Schelley adjusted the course to make it a more challenging course. Hiro like it tighter and Henry like it faster. Taka wants it fast and tight! For the first time in 4 years of TOPDRIFT history, TOP 16 tandem is on! Everyone that qualified for TOP16 has a cage, so everyone agreed to go TANDEM! This was unexpected since traditionally we TANDEM at TOP 8. But everyone wants to raise the bar! So it’s on! All TOP16 car has the “TOP 16″ traditional Federal Tires banner to easily identify the TOP 16 cars on the track. The final results came to:
