the way my dad and I did the piping on my current miata is way different than the way RPM (a tuning shop in San Diego, i dont know if theyre still around) did the piping on my old turbo miata that burned up a few years ago.

the reason my dad and i did the IC piping this way is that this way required no cutting of the body at all.

the basic GReddy kit can be installed in a day easily.

the motor in my current miata is a replacement short block that didnt have an oil galley tapped to use for an oil feed line for the turbo so i had to search for an adapter that would allow me to run an oil line from the oil pressure gauge source. but most miatas (90-93) wont have this problem (the GReddy kit is only for 90-93 miatas).

mounting an intercooler and routing pipes to fit is another story. you can get this done at a shop for a good amount of money or, like i did with my current miata, take the do-it-yourself route. in a word, an intercooler project is "custom"

oh yeah, this basic GReddy kit includes:
        TD-04H Mitsubishi turbo
        Exhaust manifold
        Down pipe
        FMU
        Various aluminum elbows
        Oil feed line
        Oil return line

it's a regular miata front end painted with some black spray paint. i need to add some new coats of paint cuz the black paint is starting to wear off.

I don't think Mistubishi designed that for you to front mount, so no you can't blame them Your piping is definitely interesting...
How many horses you putting down and what's the weight on those Miatas?

an intercooler is an intercooler no matter where you mount it. it does the job. now i can safely run 10 degrees of advance timing with the same amount of boost without pinging. this helped out bottom-end response a whole lot.

i havent bothered to get the car dyno'd but miatas with similar modifications put down about 160 hp to the wheels with around 6 pounds of boost (the Mazdaspeed Miata puts down 152 hp to the wheels).

oh yeah, a first-gen miata weighs about 2200 pounds.

the exhaust is a basic muffler shop custom job. the custom piping starts about a foot and a half behind the cat and goes to the straight through muffler. nothing special but its much better than the highly restrictive stock muffler.
