There are plenty of engines you can put into the celica...some harder than others. For one the 22R-E comes in a turbo form in the early toyota 4runners. I've also seen people put the 3S-GTE (which is an awesome engine) into the celica. There are guys using the supra six cylinders, the
7M-G(T)E, and the JZ-G(T)E. Some are even using the toyota V8's. There was one guy, that I know of, that put a chevy 350 in it. He built it for drag racing but you get the point.

Thanks a bunch guys!!
tanks for all ur help guys .... i might consider that turbo 4 tha 22R-E. i wonder how more power that would give me?? and i have to start on those pedals... to fit a V6 u would definetly have to cut tha front end wouldnt u??....that kind of money i don't have...i m gonna wait til ma engine goes, then i'll consider some major engine swaps.Last edited by 85Celica; 01-18-2005, 05:39 PM.

well, your going to be waiting a long time for that engine to go. That is one of...if not the most reliable engines toyota has ever made. Go on a toyota forum and ask about the 22R and see what people say. How many mile does yours have on it. Mine has about 190 thousand and is still running strong....I only wish i could say that about the body.

yeah i got 257k on mine but i haven't started to beat on it yet... cause i wanna get some suspension mods first. I just hate the fact that everything has to be custom made on my car cause it is so old, performance parts are hard to come by...including this winter it'll be the third winter i've driven through. i cry whenever i see my car covered in salt. i have a smudge of rust on a corner of tha sunroof but i m planning to take that out.....if anyone knows of a performance parts distributor that has parts for my cars suspension plz let me know...tanks

Damn, 275K...and I thought I had alot. But for a 21 year old
car (mine's an 84) 190K is not a lot. Is yours a GT-S? Your lucky that you only have a little rust. The person I bought mine from didn't take care of the body at all. There is rust everywhere....in both door jambs, the whole hatch, the bottom of the doors, the firewall, the gas door....need I go on. But If I can give you some advice, do whatever it takes to stop the rust, because if you don't it will continue to grow. Some common problem areas are behind the front fenders and door jambs. Because leaves, dirt and crap build up behind there and it hold all the moisture. Another common area is the hatch, mine was the left and right sides of the hatch, around the area of the emblems....in the corners. Also the area where the hatch falls, around the area of the weather stripping. Mine is now made completely of fiberglass. But all these problems you may not have....depending on how well you take care of the car. Mine also had water leaks so that didn't help the rust problem either.
Here's a link to some more info about common problems and mods you can do. The site is mainly for the Celica-Supra version but the cars are almost identical. Besure to check out their forums....plenty of info there.
