not really new but looking for advice

My friends are teh cool ones, with S14's with 1JZ's, and real PS13's, but Im the poor one with a ford escort wagon :P. But Im getting alittle bit of money and want to start, dare I say it, drifting. Well Im stuck on two platforms, Z32 and S13-series.

1st off, for the S13, would Tein SS springs cut it for beggining drifting? Or should I save up for the rest of the year and get some Tanabe DD's? And also, why does everyone poop on the Z32 chassis? I really want that car the most, mainly because its one of my favs of all time, but it would be lame to get it, only to find out its never going to be able to do real dori's...

Get the car that you want. That's it.

If you like the 300Z, get that car and make it do what you want. You'll be much happier.

However, between the two, the 300 is a more expensive car to build and maintain. They do drift decently though. I owned one for daily driving and it's a great looking car and very fun. Good for quick sprints on the freeway too.

2 of my friends also owned and drifted 300Z's (before they sold them and bought 240sx's though). They felt that they could more affordably build up a 240 for the power they wanted. But while driving the Z's they could do all the same stuff (70+mph drifts, choku-doris on the straights, controlled donuts / figure 8's, etc.), however, to me, the Z's didn't seem as snappy and responsive as their 240s. Maybe because they're much heavier.

Get the car you want and worry about practicing your drifting. I promise you'll look much cooler than your "cool" friends while owning a very good looking car and actually drifting.
