  • Driving safely home with drift tuned suspension

Is it ever possible to have a really good setup (as in crazy professional drifting camber) on your car for drifting and still be able to safely drive home from an event?

You may have to find a happy meduim for a drift car that is also a daily driver. Still, even if a car is tuned for drifting, it's still ok to drive normally. Most "normal" driving is done well below the grip limits of the tires. The rear end won't suddently come out on your or something like that. As far as camber, that's a matter of contact patch and tire wear. Again, if this is being driven around town, you're looking at a happy medium...or you just might not car about tire wear(you're drifting anyways-not quite a tire friendly sport).

The only thing you need to worry about is what happens during emergency situations like if I guy in front of you slams on his brakes or there's a chunk of tread from a semi in your lane, etc. This is the only time you're reaching the limits of the car. If the car is set up for oversteer, it will oversteer. Still, if you're drifting the thing, you're probably quite comfortable at the limits anyways. Reguardless of what happens, it will probably feel like second nature.
