Drifting 944
I recently bought two Porsche 944's (N/A) and am an experianced SCCA racer, but my friend who just came to Germany from Japan has been drifting for a few years and has got me interested. I understand that the 944 is a great handling car, but I am not sure how good of a drift car they will make. I am in the process of stripping them down to essentials and replacing the body panels with fiber glass. If anyone has drifted these cars let me know whats up.

I'm not too knowlegeble about the 944, but my friend and I have attempted to drift his dad's 911. It is a great handling car, but doesn't kick out the way we wanted. The 944 should make an excellent track car, but with any mid-engine car, won't make a great drift car. -

Chassis and motor wise I think a 944 would make a great drift car I'm just not sure the drive train, specifically around the clutch area (throwout, and pilot bearing) is up for the abuse of alot of hard clutch kicks.Comment

from what ive heard from the 944 crowd. From those i have meet, and those off of renlist,
the transaxle doesnt take the shock to well associated with drifting.
and i swapped out a transaxle.. its not something you want to do oftenComment
