  • suspension mods

    just bought an 89 240sx.

have Megan Racing Coilovers, project silvia tension arms and RUCAS.

I know the tension arms control toe-in and toe-out on my front wheels and the RUCAS control the camber on my rear wheels. The MR coilovers have camber plates to adjust the camber on the front wheels.

I see other mods like traction rods and tie rod ends etc. what else could I use as a beginner?

Even though this is almost a month old I'll give you some tips:

Tension Arms don't control toe-in and toe-out. They control caster. Have a good amount of negative caster helps you link turns by pushing the wheel back to its natural, straight position. Next time you're driving turn the wheel while moving and let go. You'll see the wheel turn back the other way. Tension rods will make this happen even faster. However too much caster will make the steering feel heavy. A good setting for this is approximately -8 degrees.

You really shouldn't need that much since you are pretty new in the suspension area. What you probably could use if you havent done it yet is a good alignment. By good alignment I dont mean a tire chain, but more so a racing shop that will do it to your specs, not just even everything out.

This should be possible with your setup and should provide a good starting point for your drift events. Just set it and forget it. As you progress you'll find settings that are more to your suting:

    Camber Front/Rear: -2.5 to -3 /-1.5 to -2
    Caster Front: -8 to -8.5
    Toe Front/Rear: 0 to slightly toed-in/0 to slightly toed-out

    Good luck!
