I'm new to drifting and I've heard that a Trueno is a good car for beginners, but I want a car that looks reasonable asewll. (Something that girls might like?) My budget is pretty high because my dad is going to but it for me, but he will probably buy it used. I would just get something like a trueno for learning then put it aside, but my dad wouldn't let me do that. He first proposed buying me something like a supra, s2000, or a 350z, but said that anything around 15-20 thousand he would get. So what do you recommend?

Deciding on a drift car?

For beginning drifting the AE86 (Trueno/corolla/levin) Isn't the best car for most people. It is a 20+ year old car that generally needs alot of work. But if you stick with it and fix/build/fix it as you learn you can grow with the car. I would start with a more friendly chassis like the s13-s14 240sx's. They are still relatively cheap and have alot more aftermarket support than the AE86. Plus you can usually find a well built one with a sr20det and more for much less than 15-20k. I would stay away from the S2k as a drift car since you have to change alot to make it drift well. The 350Z is cool if you can get one for the right price, but then again needs some mods to drift well and parts for those aren't cheapo. Personally I would go with a AE86 if you want to learn and grow in your car hobby. If you want to go out and start drifting just buy a 240sx, put on a decent suspension and go have fun.

is this your first car?
Hey man,
Is this your first car? I might be a little
worried if the first car you get is a supra
or 350 Z!! these are very fast cars and if
you want to drift it, you're puttin yourself
in a bit of a dangerous seat!
Get a little cheap banger like a silvia or 240sx
even non-turbo and go to the track and practice
drifting. If you do happen to bang it up you won't
be too dead or too in debt..but it seems like your
dad is rich so whatever you get, make sure you
get full insurance...! Good luck man..and 86 Trueno's
aren't that hard to drift in...and I think they look sweet!
