  • Engine swap to much weight?

Hey I have a 90 miata and want more power. But after looking at the different turbo s, the cheapest kit being 1,300, and thinking about just peacing to getter my own turbo kit, I decided to go with and engine swap. I chose the 13B-rew (it’s the lightest with most power and its mazda) my only question. is the extra weight going to make me slide easier but regain grip harder?

Also if any one has any tips on the swap iv tried searching but couldn’t really find any thing.

Oh yea ive been drifting for about 2 years on an open diff and I just bought my 2 way lsd!!

For a 1.6 miata, I'd suggest either keeping the motor in there and building your own turbo setup, or swapping a 1.8L BP motor from a later year miata.

Lots of good information about turbo miatas over at miataturbo.net

I'd stay away from complicated rotary motor swaps as cool as they sound. The hassle of the swap, and cost may leave you with an uncompleted car. You want a reliable car to learn in, that you can find cheap parts for at pep boys. If you are dead set on a mazda motor and dead set on swapping, you should look at the FE3, more power and much more usable torque band. details of this swap are at:

1300 is a lot cheaper than how much it will cost to put a rotary in there, to get the motor in alright condition will be probably around 1000 alone, i would just turbocharge.

13B-REW is a fairly expensive motor. They usually go for around $2,000-$2,500 , and parts for it are outrageous. You could also go for a 13B-T. If you want rotary power for a pretty cheap price.

www.jspecauto.com Has some good motors for sale, and they are the cheapest I've seen for a complete assembly.

If I were you I'd either find a supercharger, or I'd just build up a nice N/A motor.
