learning to fix engines by yourself

is it reccommended. i know having classes is probably better but may also cost a lot(since most ppl do it for careers), and might be inconvenient.

books (chilton guides), internet (message boards, forums, websites) Personally I have a subscription to alldatadiy.com for my car. I also just searched for the "fan club" website for my car. currently it's a 3000gt so 3si.com, but the engine just blew and I don't wanna fork over the cash for a new engine so I am in the market for a new car, hopefully one better suited for drifting.

point being, classes aren't the only ways to learn things

how long does it typically take(estimate). i guess i'll probably meet someone if i get into the drift world, and i wouldn't mind paying a lil for someone to show.

not long at all if you're a nice guy and don't mind buying lunch

also if you want to learn some engine stuff, i know that this site has swap DVD's that might help get you familiar with engine stuff, even if you're not swapping that particular motor
