Hello, I have a 2003 dodge neon, would like to drift it, however, i do not believe that it would suit the needs for drifting. I would like to keep the car, but i am wondering what might be needed to do to it. I'll try to give some more info if anyone would like to know more...only 4 cylinder, but i could probably upgrade to something else. Hope someone can help.

It is impossible to be competitive when drifting a FWD car. Either keep the Neon for daily abuse, or sell it and buy some that is RWD.
Converting it to RWD is possible, and I recall one guy that did do it successfully. However, it took about a thousand dollars and extensive fabrication- with over a year of work.
Almost forgot to mention- besides a thorough inspection to make sure the car is safe to drive hard, I would recommend a LSD and performance brake pads (front and rear) for starters. Next, would probably be a clutch, high temp brake and clutch fluids, then better tires (suspension, gears and engine power come later).Last edited by socalwrench; 10-24-2009, 09:31 PM.Comment

weld the diff at first most shop will do that for around 100 dollars. and then work on suspension. and a seat.
the one thing that everyone passes over. its the oldest best 3 things to get for drifting. its lsd (welded), coils, and then a seat. then you go to other suspension parts.Comment
