What is the difference between the black top and the red top for an S13. Is one faster than the other or is it just the colors? Also aren't the SR's illegal in California? I don't understand how people are passing smog with this engine? I'm sorry if this is a newb question but i just need these things clarified before I make any choices for new engines and stuff like that.

Yes, SRs are illegal in California. People get them to pass smog with a Benjamin or two. However, you'd still be SCREWED if you got pulled over and had to pop the hood. -
