I know that a Trueno is an '86 model, and a Levin is an '85 model, but I've also seen a model called a Sprinter Trueno, is this a different year, a luxury model, or a fancy name added for effect???

sprinter is the japanese name for the corolla. trueno and levin are just different version of it. trueno had flip headlights, and levins had stationary headlights. theyre both sprinters though.
so u can have a sprinter trueno, and a sprinter levin too i guess...even though ive never really heard of that.

Okay folks. There is no COROLLA in Japan. there's only a Trueno and Levin in Japan.
Apex Sprinter is the sport package (along with the GT-S and the GT-V)
Levins are ae85 (hachi-go) they had the 4ac motor (carb, single cam). People swaps out the 4ac to the 4ag motor because they don't want the 4ac motor. Levin was the weakest of them all.
85/86 are not years. They are chassi codes.
AE85/AE86/AE88/AE92/AE101/AE111.

Youll actually find 8 types of this car.
Coupe Levin, Coupe Trueno
Hatch Levin, Hatch Trueno
Each offered as either a "Sport" or "Econo" model. As to which you got depends on which coutnry you live in.
So yes there was the ae86 levin with a 4age engine in it.Last edited by SidewaysGts; 11-24-2004, 03:18 PM.

Example:
I like the fact the they pointed out that the GZE is turbo'd
+++++++++++++++++++++
All 4A engines have a displacement of 1587 cc.
* 4A-GZE: Turbo'd Version
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
4a-gze in the US was only planted to the AW11 (mr-s) Now, I don't know a lot about the MR-S but I think they came Super-Charged vs turbo'd. The SW20 engine code is 3sgte which is turbo charged. Do I don't know where the gze turbo came from (i could be wrong about AW11 being s/c or turbo.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
And I like the fact that there's only 2 models of the corolla (a coupe and sedan).
+++++++++++++
# Corolla Sports Coupe GT-S Model
# SE Sedan (North America): (RWD from 1983-87 and FWD from 1988-90)
+++++++++++++
Now RWD corolla (as far as I know) was only from 84 to 86 here in the US. Anything in between those years were fwd.
no thanks, i'll pass on half-as* info ^_^
ALSO:
just to clarify,
86 = hachiroku.
like saying: I have 86 kilo's of rice in my trunk.
I hope it helps.
Also, i have to correct my previous comment. There was a Levin with 4AG motor in it. It was limited production. Because there was a market for Levin with 4ag motor. Just like the Tommy Kiara 180sx. They were released with the SR20 motor and after market parts in them stock. As far as I know 180sx only had the CA18 motor. The S13/S14 are silvias with stationary headlights with the sr20 motor. (but that's a whole different topic ^_^)
correct me if i'm wrong on any of my comments please Thanks.Last edited by CRASHDRIVE; 11-24-2004, 04:57 PM.
