  • 2 questions...

    i have two questions:
    1)what is kouki?
i've seen this term thrown around in many places and i can't figure out what it is?
    is it a certain style?

    2) why do drifters have a small tire diameter in relation to their wheel?
i've seen, more in earlier years, drifters have tires that barely fit onto much wider rims. ex. fumiaki komatsu's old dark green? car before the new "twin" .
ive heard of other companys doing things similar to this, only with tires that are a bit wider than the rim so the tire breaks away more progressivly than a wheel that is square.

Kouki and zenki are front ends, one is old one is new, cant remember worth a *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*, but its used for a couple different cars mostly s14 240sx's with the sharkface front end and the other.

195s on a 12 inch rim is for stunnar spec car show people. Something practical like a 195 or 205 on a 8 inch is used on cars so that their is less sidewall flex, this usally helps with predicting how the car will react when weight is shifted around.

Sorry for my ghetto half assed attempts at answering your questions. Search if you want more details.

kouki and zenki aren't necessarily front ends. It can be different physical differences from the grill of the vehicle all the way to the trunk. There's more but I'm on the phone right now.

As for the tire stuff, I dont know....I have a corolla....I'll take 195/60/14 any day on my 14x7's

koukis and zenkis are not just front ends..

zenkis are the earlier versions, koukis are the later versions..front ends and rear ends (ie tail lights)

it applies to S13's, s14's, and 86's..maybe more but whatever eh

for example..the kouki s13 have the rectangular projectors, while the earlier ones have the round projectors...

Yeah, kouki and zenki are just two different styles that cars can have depending on when they came out. Sometimes there can be lots of differences like in the interior, engine, etc. But usually its easily identified by headlights or tail lights.

actually kouki means new in japanese and zenki means ancient or old,
so it can pertain to anything .
                        stretched tires,
they stretch smaller tires onto it so you get a better slide with no side wall to obsorb the weight, have you ever started a drift and it feel really draggy like your tires are to flat and it underteers?
that helps to eliminate that. plus it looks cool to have the lip stick out a little.
