Acrylic is a crappy material. It scratches easy, it needs constant maintance. the idea of someting clear does sound cool but its unrealistic. good thinking though!

I saw an all chrome car once in a Euro mag. They had to cover is on the tow truck, not to protect the car, but to protect all the other drivers eyes if the sun hit it.

The problem with acrylic is its breaking strength, or lack thereof.
