i had the craziest idea... with toyota possibly dropping the celica and mr2 in the north american market, what sporty cars are left? the corrola and matrix XRS? Wouldn't it be nice if by 2006 they make a awd or preferably rwd corola xrs (kind of like a 20th aniversary AE86). Volkswagen did something like this recently, (an awd golf with vw rabbit badges, bigger engine) the only difference is that VW already makes awd golfs... but wait toyota makes awd corolas.. the matrix is available with awd, although Toyota claims the AWD system cannot handle the power of the 180hp XRS engine. Anwho it would look pretty cool, a white corrolla xrs with black trim, and the rwd components. Who knows how it would handle or how the weight distribution would be, but toyota has deep pockets compared to someone trying to do this themself, they would make a damn good product if they bothered.

cool idea, but i doubt that toyota would waste the money on a project like this to appease a very miniscule part of its customers. think about how many camrys/siennas/corollas it already sells and then think about a person buying a corolla. fwd which is cheaper or a rwd, most would choose the cheaper model and dont care about which wheels the power goes to. be patient though, because the supra will be reintroduced in the next 3-5 years.

lets hope so, cause it almost feels like drifting is a sport for old school cars (nothing wrong with that!) cause there arent many newer RWD cars...if you go down to buy a new car thats rear wheel, you have 350Z, MR-S, Miata, Lexus' and Infinitis, and thats about it...and most of those cars are pretty pricy....so i think an afforable RWD would be awsome
