  • e brake tightening

i have a '97 subaru legacy and the ebrake seems to be a little loose. like it won't really grab until its pulled 12 clicks up?
is there anyway to tighten it so it is more responsive?
my moms 2002 legacy is nice and tight and i want it like that.
my friend said i just have to tighten the cable, but not sure how.
    thanks

if you have a manual for the car, look up "e-brake" in the index....it says in there

you can also take off the center peice covering the e-brake and adjust it through there..that is probably the thing that will fix your problem...just loosen and put up the slack and tighten...

          cool thanks
when you take the center piece out wil lthe tightening place be right under it or further back in the cable?
and how would i get this piece (center) to come out w/o dismantling the whole interior center?

ya i really should know this ...

Get a manual like a Chiltons or something. It will tell you in detail how to replace the ebrake parts, from there you should be able to figgure out how to adjust it. If you had a Camaro I'd be able to help you out, but no idea how Subbies are setup.

2....this is what it looks like for a corolla anyway....

-loosen and pull the cord to tighten....trial and error you know...

Hey, what about foot brakes? My Benz Ebrakes aren't tight enough.
