Cleaning/Adjusting HKS SSQ BOV

My new "secret drift" car has an HKS SSQ BOV on it, Same as on my S14. Yet it acts and sounds TOTALLY different. It hesitates to purge for a second once i let off the throttle and when it does it just whistles (sounds like shooting off a bottle rocket). On the S14 it purges even when I havent built boost and it sounds clean and swooshy like it should. I was told it could use a cleaning to get it to function regularly again, and I bet it could use some adjusting. Does anybody know the precedure on this?

Maybe it's running a different insert. I never had to adjust my SSQV.

I could understand how the insert could effect the sound but the hesitation?
