I have the skyline/300zx 5-star output flanged vlsd diff in my 240. Its making a tremendoes howling noise under power and wierd humming noise during decel. anyone know of any common failures of these diffs?

sounds like you have chipped a pinion tooth off
same thing happened to my in my S12 -
ok im not even sure what rear end i have.. either from a skyline or from jdm s13 or s14 w/ 4.3 ratio, but the pinion gear definitely failed. get a whole new/used unit or get new pinion/ring gear? any suggestions where to find parts?Comment
