I had a shop swapped out the alternator, b/c the old one was bad and it shorted a wire plus burnt out the 75A relay. I was driving and it was fine for a couple of days after it came out of the shop and then, it just suddenly start slowing down on me and shut off like 2 days later. I tried starting it back up but it wouldn't work. Lights and everything work but it just wouldn't start, no clicking noise either. Jump started it but it only ran for about a mile until it was gonna shut off on me again. Took it back to the shop again and they said that the alternator was a bad one even though it was just brand new and that it shorted a wire again and popped the relay again. They said that everything else is fine, starter, ignition coil, everything is fine. So my question is, Is it really the alternator? Any suggestions can be helpful Thank you.

sounds possible but I would say that you may have a bad wire somewhere that is causing the short.

The altinator is not brand new, it's rebuilt. This is exactly why most shops won't deal with altinators over the internet, pickup only. It's suprisingly normal for rebuilt altinators to have a few problems sometimes. Just gotta keep returning it untill you get a good one.

I remember changing it out on my moms car one time, had to return the damned thing 3 times before we got a reliable one.
