  • S13 Brake upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade the brakes on my 89 240sx. I have been told that the Z32 front hub and brakes and the S14 rear hub and brakes are both direct bolt-ons. I wanted to get some info on this. If anyone has anything to add or something I missed I would like to know.

q45 brakes make a good upgrade also, they bolt on you just need to get the rotors redrilled for 4 lug.

You don't need the z32's hubs to upgrade the brakes. You can find the 4 lug rotors from places like phase2motortrend, heavythrottle, or enjuku racing. What you need is just the calipers, the conversion brake lines, rotors, springs and clips for the brake pads and brake pads with shims.

the 5 lug swap you were referring to earlier in your post is like this.

S14 front knuckles with hubs, you'll need to order s14 lower control arm joints and have them pressed in after you take out the s13's joint and remember to take out the ring clip that's holding it in place. When installing the s13 shock on the s14 knuckle, you'll need to grind out the hole at the bottom where the strut goes through the bolt on the knuckle. The rears are as easy as taking the hub from the rear end of a z32 and bolting them in place. Remember to grab the ebrake assembly (cables and brackets) since your stock ones wont fit.

          other method
get the 5 lug hubs from an aftermarket tuner like GTO. They've got fresh bearings installed and no fiddling with grinding and this and that. The rear is the same as above.

            I can't find this GTO...

Would they have 5-lug conversions for CRX -> CR-V AWD?

GTO makes the parts for s13s. I don't know about the Honda line up. You may want to see if you can source the hubs from other hondas. the GTO hubs are also pretty pricey at 400 a set. If you want them for the s13, they have them at jspec.com.

                HOLY FLURKING SCHNITT!!!

400/set is a bit steep - for that price you could get a whole blown Z31 or 32 and just swap parts galore!

Thanks for the info on the Honda, especially since it's a Honda...

yeah I had initially said "hell no that's a rip off" upon seeing their price. But when I thought about it over some time, the idea of new bearings, less hassle than the s14 conversion in the front, less parts sourcing, and the fact that I didn't want to take a file to bore out my beautiful new zeal function d's made me think about it a bit more. Now I just gotta get me my white Work Meister S1Rs. ha ha ha

                    Yeah, I can see that.

After all, usually finding the right part is half the battle.
