He did. It seems like the guy puts SRs in everything. Haha.

Exactly. Only 3 major moving parts. vs 100+ moving parts in a piston.

Shame on you on putting a piston engine in an FC shell.

It's not practical to do a swap. It's not that hard to work on. and they are good under high level of heat.

Too bad. small block chevy in a 350z would be interesting. Far more interesting then an SR swap. Potentially much faster, too.

Why swap in a piston motor when you can have the legendary rotory engine? They are reliable, but when they do have problems its basiclly the same on evry RX7. Like the catalytic converter being stopped up and the fuel pump going out. If you decide to swap a piston motor in an FC that is just sad when you could either keep the stock 13B or the 13B-REW, which would be the best decision, in my opinon.

You'll come to learn that some people are just douches.

Tony Angelo (Rockford Fosgate/Vivid Racing/Drift Alliance) currently drifts an FC Turbo II with a SR20DET motor in it yes. It used to be Chris Forbsergs car.
Both Tony and Chris did the swap when they realized the SR20DET is an easier and cheaper motor to replace.

Chris Forsberg (MotoRex/Drift Alliance) 350Z houses an SR20DET as well, after Chris blew up his motor and crashed it a while ago, Tony and Chris did the swap in it after realizing that the VG30 was toast! Cheaper and easier to make horsepower.

Tony and Chris can fabricate, peep Chris motor and V-Mount next time, it's a work of art, for real!

Nobody other than Tony and Chris has fabricated on their cars, only tuned!

Hate to break it to you. The 350Z doesn't have a VG30

I have to agree with you on this one, that is about the only swap that should be done.

anything is else is just wrong.

kinda like when mr. burns pays Homer (prank monkey) to go into the comic book store and buy the 1st spiderman ($20,000) just to see comic book guys face when homer eats it. wrong on the same kind of level.

                    sorry simpson fan

yeah I guess I would probably just keep the rotary, or go to a Enfini engine.( I found one for $1200)

Yeah buddy, the 350Z has the VQ35 and the 300ZX had the VQ30. Next time get it right.

If you can't handle the fc and the rotary engine then get another car. Imo the sr20 is a meager peice of *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored* compared to the rotary. Not fit for an FC. The rotary engine is purely incredible, I see so many cop outs crying about putting another motor into an rx7 these days its disgusting. Most of these people just dont want to take the time to learn, or are influenced easily by other peoples negative oppinions on the rotary. Most of the time, the people I talk to that are interested in these swaps, hardly know anything about the motor at hand. Whats so hard to learn? 3 moving parts and other managable aspects like fuel, air temp, oil, ignition and water temp like any other car. This stuff isn't hard to learn kids. The first idea in your head shouldn't be, I would like to get an fc but.........people tell me the rotary isn't good, and my feeble mind hasn't matured enough for me to make decisions or learn on my own. Thats disgusting, im not primarily talking about the swap that also disgusts me, but just how incredibly misinformed alot of people are. You can call it closed minded, but why don't you use half of a brain, save money, and just buy the 240.

most people cry and complain about rx-7s because they went out and bought one without doing their homework and just started to slap aftermarket parts on it and guess what? they blew their engine. Wankel (created the rotary) is a god right up there with Porsche (who createded the boxster motor).
So, here is my advice, spend a little time reading before you get all twitchy off your Mtn. Dew and start to grab the socket set. Like I said before, www.rx7club.com is a great site to learn about the cars and it covers all 3 generations of the 7.

Jeez, Harsh. I have been learning about rotaries and have decided that if I did get an FC, that I would keep it rotary. as I started to say in above posts.

zip, it wasnt directed at you, just people in general who usually come into one of the forums and their first comments are usually "WTF, I put an intake, dp, and exhaust on my 7 and the motor blew, what a piece of junk" when all that they had to do was read a little and see that a FD doesnt have a MAF and that you need a stand alone as your second mod or the boost creep/spike will cause detonation and blow an apex seal. For the most part, 7 owners are dedicated to the car and pretty friendly.
As for the engine, DONT buy a used engine. There are tons of shops in the US that deal with rebuilds and upgrades that are a ton better for your car. I would talk to gotham racing, rx7store.net, or KDR near philly. I strongly advise going to the 7club or www.nopistons.com to ask them about the engines. I am not familiar with FC's but there is a wealth of knowledge out there that can really help you out.
