  • Crown Vic?

I was just thinking, would a Crown Victoria setup for drifting be feasible? Or is it just a waste of time?

I was thinking a '92-'98 car, with police package. A major plus is that they can be had for under a grand and theyre easy to work on.

    Send comments, flaming, etc. please.

Yes, that the kind of thinking we want. Cars are like Dori mon: gotta drift em all! (except cavaliers and escort wagons)
It a bit heavy but you could do it. there are plenty of parts.
    Sounds good.

They're always drifting them in the movies, why not on the track?

Alright, if this does actually happen, who sells aftermarket suspension pieces for a Crown Vic? I've tried google searches, but all i get are "look at my pimp ride yo" airbags and stuff.

try maximum motorsports. they should have parts or at least be able to set you in the right direction. i too thought about something along the lines of fixing up a crown vic. i'm sure with minor mods you can bolt up a T45 or T56 to the crown vic (94-later have the 4.6 gT motor) hardest part would be the x member i think. 6 speed supercharged 4.6 crown vic..... sounds hot. keep it black and white too! the suspension on the prior police vehicles is pretty stiff with fat sway bars too. ALSO prior police come with LSD (trac lock)

You have got to be kidding!

Dont tell me yall have never seen the car James Bondurant was driving at the Houston FormulaD. I think a sponsorship change at the school has changed his current car, but he used to drift a police package cobra/vic. Do a little research and you will find plenty of performance parts for a crown vic.

Oh and just so you know the Mercury Marauder is basically a cobra/vic already made for you.

Are you talking about the car with the Cobra drivetrain? Let me remind you, I'm only 16, I don't really have the budget for that sort of thing...the cheaper the better.
                  Thanks for your comments everyone!

i'm saying get a GT or cobra driveline. GT driveline can be had for VERY cheap couple hundred bucks. and while you're at it go for like a centerforce dual friction and a FRPP lightened flywheel. i can see this swap costing no more than $700 dollars if you do your own work. don't let the wrenches intimidate you!

                      Does the GT have a T56 or a T45?

iv seen the bondurant crown vic in a magazine befor drifting you should find a way to contact him about doing a drift vic, but i bet a stock police intersepter would already have a preety stout suspension pakage that will do you fine for a while.
to bad you can't leave the light bar

Im not sure how stock police packages are. Remember police rarely carve corners, but they often need to go off road or onto rough surfaces. Police suspension is probably set up to have alot of travel and not nessisarly be super stiff. Now honestly i cant say but that would be my guess.
