Basicly, any rwd car can drift bud, no matter if its auto or manual, but you dont have as much control with an automatic, so thats why most people perfer manual.... but after all, its your choice, if you can only get an auto, then you can deal with it, but if you can get a manual, then do it.
I have in my younger sister's 85 VW Golf.
I don't know what it was, the tires just not gripping the auto tranny a combo of both, light weight I dunno but it was incredably easy to get the *Censored**Censored**Censored* around and around and around. felt like i was on ice or something.
P.s. don't even start about the flaming that it was an FF and you can't drift in FF's, that is B.S.

Speaking of losing control in an automatic, thats how I totalled my first car. Not a good drift choice the auto 1986 300ZX. She went out like a soldier...a blazing shattered soldier...*salutes*
i drift auto coz the majority of commodores are, i was looking for a manual for 6 months straight, and i gave up coz they were all owned by teenagers that thrash them, i could get a manual transfer but that costs like $3000

Thats why i will always hate those things for anything but stop and go traffic.
heres how i do it, rev the car in drive 4 up to 5k, shift it to neutral, while still holding down the gas, your revs will go crazy, at the same time, shift it into 2nd drive gear and turn the car, the car will give out a sudden jolt(lock the wheels) and bam clutch kick you have with an auto~! i dont recommend it though cuz your trannys gonna take a hell of a beating
