I've been noticing a couple of spots on my driveway coming from my s13. I took a look around and I'm not quite sure what the problem is. It was made more difficult because there was a ton of sludge and grease down there. I spent all day cleaning it up. I can't tell if it's coming from the front crank seal (which is what my friend thought it was and i've read about it on other boards) or if it's an oil pan gasket. Has anyone else experienced this? If it's the front crank seal, how hard is it to replace? I figure the oil pan gasket won't be hard. I must also add that the "technicians" at Firestone overfilled my car with oil, which may have caused this to happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Help with oil leak

Without actually being there, its pretty ahrd to tell as it could be any number of things.
Something to think about though; did it leak BEFORE you brought it to the "Technicians" at firestone? If not, it probably is jsut because of it being over filled.
My oil was over filled majorly one time.. while driving around a HUGE cloud of smoke cam out from the back of my car. i freaked out thinking something major had broke- turns out the coil landed on the exhaust manifold somehow (im guessing at least). Once the excess burned out it was fine.

I don't know if it leaked before, I guess it didn't. I got the oil changed after I bought it just so I'd know that it was fresh and so I'd know the last time it was done. The few day's I had it before it was changed I didn't notice it. After driving home from work today I didn't notice any leaks or drips so far so good. I haven't had any smoke, is that characteristic of being overfull? Thank You. Does anyone else know anything else about this?

I dont know if it is or not- i just know the excess oil hit my manifold and burned... after that it was fine.
Really theres a lot that could be leaking the oil; bad cam gaster faulty line here or there simple residual from the engine, something from the oil pan etc. if its just a few drops its really not something to worry about; if you start noticing big puddles then worry.
