  • Any 1 ever use a Quaife LSD

How well does this LSD work for drifting, I spoke to someone from quaife and he indicated that the LSD puts down 80% to one side and 20% to the other side. But that doesnt make sense to me why that would, especially if you were using it for drag racing wouldn't you need it split 50/50.

    Thanks,
    William M.

In a straight line, the Quaife diff will put down power almost exactly equally. However, once your weight shifts to one side, the diff will transfer more power to the less weighted tire because it's the path of least resistance.

In a drift, that means the Quaife (or any helical diff, for that matter) will spin one tire more than the other and act much like a viscous LSD. I know that I don't have much of a problem getting and staying sideways with my VLSD and I have a helical awaiting install; so I'll try and give you an update about that.

If you grip more than you drift, a helical (or a 1.5-way clutch-type LSD with soft engagement) is the best choice.
