On a viscous coupaling there are no gears..just a gooie licquid to connect things together...whin this liquide gets hot it gets thicker and locks hings up
BTW if you weld the center drif on an AWD car it will make it a 4WD all the time with no compansation for for/aft diffrances in wheel speed.
