yep high 14's is a good estimate for stock SR. Just remember though that the SR responds pretty well with bolt on mods. If you plan on getting more power out of each upgrade, do get your head ported and polished. The stock flow rates for the head are horrendous.

or do that when you break your engine.... cause its not fun taking everything apart for 10hp

          Quick question...

What's the difference between Red Top SR20DET and Black Top SR20DET?

I was about to point fingers and scream ricer, but then I asked myself, could they be from different cars and are slightly different motors?

          Matt.

            red top = S13
            S13 Black top = kouki 180SX S13 chassis
            Notch-top AKA S14 black top = S14/S15

althought the S15 has different injectors and a different turbo i believe.

It's not hard to make a redtop SR20DET powered car break into the 13's,and still relatively easy to make it run 12's.

Fairly new engine in Japan...Might not be as common here...Chances are that the compression are high since it's got variable-valve timing(duh). Other than that I don't see anything else thats wrong...I knew some guys that turboed a VTEC engine, without considering anything else and they fried they're turbo in a couple of thousand miles...

What's the going rate on an SR swap these days, if you do it yourself?

Last I knew it wasn't that cheap. The real measure isn't the time, it's the time vs. the money invested.

There's guys in canada running 11.06 with a 6,000 dollar scirrocco. Not only is that fast, it's cheap.
                                gotta love them Canadian sciroccos
