Formula Drift Hits the Streets of Southern California April 2, 2006
Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Street Course Creates New Dynamic for First Round of 2006 Need for Speed Formula Drift Championship
IRVINE, CA (January 4, 2006) -- Formula Drift, Inc. today announced that the kick off competition for its 2006 Need For Speed Formula Drift Championship presented by Circuit City will run for the first time on a real city street track on Sunday, April 2.
Over 50 of the top professional drifters will take the sport back to its roots and to the history books once again transitioning from the traditional stadium and asphalt track to a real street course as the competition will use the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach street course’s turns 9, 10 and 11 between Seaside Way and the famous hairpin turn on Shoreline Drive in Downtown Long Beach.
Additionally, the event will take over the adjacent parking lot at the Long Beach Convention Center for team, vendor and paddock space making this not only the biggest drifting event to hit Southern California, but quite possibly the largest Drifting event every hosted internationally.
Need for Speed Formula Drift Championship is part of a week-long run of activities leading up to the 32nd Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Combined discount ticket, booth and sponsorship packages will be available for the Need for Speed Formula Drift 2006 and the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Formula Drift Inc. is only North American drifting Championship and the first organization to bring professional drifting stateside.
