I'll be there. So will a bunch of buddies from Shock Drifting. No loser car show this year, hooray!

Now if only they'd get rid of the Need for Speed challenge!

      Should be fun...

So for research sake, no car show, no Need For Speed tournament, what would you guys like to see? Just drifting and thats it? Any additional entertainment worth bringing in?

Not all entertainments fits on your criteria. There are others that likes to see car shows and games.

Oh Jim, we need DUNK TANK for the winner. Everyone gets to throw a ball!!!

Okay, one vote for a dunk tank. What else? Concert, stunt bikes, FMX demo, bikini contest, fireworks (we can't afford this one), what else?

i like the carshow and nfsu challenge, gives people somethign to do between rounds (including drivers)

              i like fireworks....

honestly though, bring bag top 16 demos. last year i always looked forward to those, and it kinda gives drivers to show off some of their style and stuff. bring back intro/demo, not all 16 combined. maybe introduce them individually and have them end up parking in a line directly in front of the bleachers with like a 1 minute interval inbetween?

Instead of NFSU tourney, why not get GT4 drift tourney! When I was at D1 USA vs. JPN (the most recent one) there were some people trying to sell videgame racing seats, but they had GT4 there...I was drifting it till they escorted me out

the problem is that it is hard to judge that type of tournament. With grip driving, it's just the fastest person to the finish.

Plus, NFS is a sponsor, GT4 isnt.

OK. Jim @ FD, here's the deal: I don't have a big problem with the NFS challenge, but last year the PA system for the challenge was aimed directly at the grandstands, and us fans couldn't hear your drift announcer over the guy yelling about the NFS challenge. That was dissapointing, and if you keep the challenge, please aim the PA a different direction.

Also: You guys have a DJ who plays music between rounds of drifting. If I recall, last year it was mostly Rap, but the year before was a nice compilation of Trance and Breakbeat (much better IMO). If possible, PLEASE get a DJ with a diverse array of music, it really helps keep the mood fresh.

Along those same lines, I remember 2 years ago, the DJ played snippets of tunes while the announcer introduced each drifter who drove by the stands, and the music was tailored to the personality of the driver: If I recall, Alex Pfeiffer had "Me so Horney" as his intro and the entire grandstands flipped out!! haha. That's stuff people talk about long after the event is over because it helps liven things up and get the fans more into it.

If you'd like, I'll sent you a PM if you want to discuss this further

No no, this is all good. This will be my impromptu survey. Keep the feedback coming.

Yeah, the PA thing was a pain. Main problem was the wind. It was so windy and the wind blew into the speakers that even at full blast the stands could barely hear.

DJ thing, I agree, working on it. I would love to have more rock.

Driver's intro is also a debate in the office. The old way took more time, was sometimes unsafe, and did not give the fans a chance to see the driver's faces. The current way (line them all up), good for photos, for TV, let's everyone see who the drivers are, especially the up-and-coming ones. We'll debate it more. BTW did you guys know that the DA guys snuck in "Land down under" -Men At Work for Rhys... it was classic, has me laughing now.

maybe like the intro you do now, but with a run up intro area, like at the start of a basketball game, driver comes out of pit, has some room to do stuff, parks in line.

start everyone in green, one by one intro them to in front of stands, but with an obvious start/shut down area. let people do a burnout/donuts,manji,whatever to the cones or around the horseshoe to the cones or maybe if like 2+ people wanted to go to gether drive and do windmills or donuts at each other around the horseshoe for a second.

                          just an idea

Cool... Maybe Drifting.com could hook me up with some backstage passes?

I like Al's Dunk tank and the intro idea Mike put out. Digging the "type R" logo too lol. As for the bikini contest, only if I get to be a judge. But,leave the car show going. Not everyone is crazy about drifting like us.

                            -Jim
Ok, maybe have the drivers pick a select a few from the crowd to ride along while they do tandem? Or will that be too much liability?

or have some of the drivers play a round in the NFS challenge.
The fans would never forget the feeling of winning/losing to a FD driver.

Or have the up-and-coming drivers give "lessons" to people in beat-up demo cars. This way the drivers exposed to the fans and the fans get the thrill of drifting.

Thats the only corny things I can come up with. Oh,did I mention about me being a judge for the bikini contest.

                            -Frank

Maybe have a some Japanese pro drivers do a little demo during break time? Might cost a lot. Just an idea. or maybe just bikes?

I don't think the bikini contest would work out.. since HIN is on July 8th also.

Maybe have a raffle and the winner gets a ride along.. i think this happaned last year.
