  • Hey guys new to the site and I was told about this thread so I'd thought I'd post in it.

I'm from the Dayton Area. I drive a 2004 ION Red Line.
I am part of www.streetracingdayton.com we hold Weekly meets on Saturdays. Visit the site for more info if you are around here or would be willing to come down.

    • I've been to SRD (i post ever once in a blue moon), and I talk to nightracer sometimes. We haven't ever gone down there. Right now there is alot of building a prep going on, and a few of us are researching and such. We need a place that's more in our area to practice. It's been kinda bad driving to PA once a month to try to learn, and retain that info for the next month. How much goes on down there?

                  • Hey guys. Clevelander here, mechanic as well, and proud owner/occasional drifter of a 1970 MGB GT "Layla".

The MG's currently laid up with (another) bad starter. Original one blew a bendix, and now the replacement fried (thank god and Bosch for warranties) after a fresh manifold gasket was installed. She's probably making a little more power than Soultron's Chevette.

I'm game for rolling with you guys if you don't mind a circle track guru hanging 'round.

                      • Once in a great while I'll hit the Quaker Steak down in Valley View, usually after seeing a movie.

You know, there used to be the best racing on Friday night down in Valley. Over on Canal Rd., where there's that construction company with the gravel pit, there used to be a 1/4mile oval track called Cloverleaf Speedway. First race track I ever went to. Closed down in I believe '91.

The big mound of the gravel pit used to be turn 4.

                        • octagon, do you know much about the tracks in the area?
well, not so much tracks as big parking lots, lik ethe auto cross guys use. I need some info, and you seemed like the one to ask.
also, what do you have to drive besides the roadster?
PM me any info you got.

                          • Dad and I used to write a weekly racing newspaper column for RPM Racing News out of Latrobe, PA that covered the Ohio asphalt beat. Got me in pretty good standing with many of the area short tracks, of which there are many. Within an hour's drive, you have Painesville, Lorain County, Sandusky, and Mansfield.

Sandusky or Mansfield would be most interested in track rental.

Sandusky Speedway is a "little" 1/2 mile oval (1/2mile around the outside) in Perkins Township with concrete barriers along the straightaways and grass run-off to tire barriers in the corners. Very gradual banking, "paper clip" shape (long straights, tight corners).
