where do my 2 cents go? O here...don't you guys think that drifting is already known enough to the point where so called 'unwanted' or 'wannabee's have already engaged (illegal or not) in the drift culture? Because before Fast and Furious came out there were still...well how do i put this...dumbasses running around the tracks. Any feedback is appreciated.

    -respectfully, Brian

Drifting could help Tyson's carreer? uh, no...he could show up at a Walmart and generate a bigger buzz. Jus stop Stop hatin, makes you people look pretty petty and small.

Another thing that gets me are these people who think they 'own' the sport of Drifting and can decide who and who cant enjoy the sport...get over yourself already.

I think its cooh that more people are getting into the scene. means more events...hopfully in SEATTLE!!!!! HINT HINT HINT!!!

I dont think everyone is really putting two and two together ..Tyson has his own tire brand name with pirelli... tire companies love drifting.. when I said that this could be for his career I wasn't talking about his modeling..I was refering to the possibility of him using drifting to sell his products.

No one is trying to hate but giving his status its easy to see why people would be skeptical..thats all I am saying.

If Tara Reid wanted to suddenly drive Indy Car..it would be cool but its easy to see how some people would be skeptical about it

Tyson is NOT going into Formula D... He was there learning to drift with an instructor from the Jim Russell Driving school, a documentary film crew, the help of Falken Tires, and a rented 2004 Ford Cobra Convertible. He spent most of the day practicing (badly, but it was his first time drifting) on the Figure 8 pads, but did drive Casper Canul's Monstor 240sx and pronounced it "da BOMB!". He was promised a chance at my 03 Mustang GT, but due to it overheating while a nameless female driver was attempting to set an all-time donut record on the skid pad on Sunday.

It is interesting to note their choice of the Ford Cobra. 390 HP is awfully tempting, but the convertible chassis is probably the worst in terms of flexibility in the entire US market at this moment. While some might claim this was chosen so the film crew could see Tyson's face as he drove, with a full-face helmet on his head, how much could really be seen even with a large zoom lens on a camera?

Falken's choice of ST-115s for the front tires was mysterious though... especially since I've worked with them on my own Mustang Enthusiast Drift Mustang project. The front of those cars needs as much damn grip as can be provided. I've got GR-Betas on the front of mine at the moment, and when the new RT-615 becomes available, I'll be asking for those! Sure would have been easier for Mr Beckford to learn.

He's nice to talk to though, and does understand the basics of car control. I'd expect him to make a return to another Drift Day, if his schedule would allow it, as I think he'll still want more practice. As do I....

Someone wise told me that weekend, "We all start out at the same place..." Unfortunately she forgot to add, "... but some of us take longer to leave it!"

03 Mustang GT- don't laugh... 294 ft/lbs of torque at 3000 RPM... at the rear wheels!

'learning to drift with an instructor from the Jim Russell Driving School'

Well since the cat seems to be out of the bag on this one already.. Tyler McQuarrie who pilots the Jasper Performance Supra for D1 and Formula D series was the instructor, as he is a Jim Russell Driving Instructor as well... However if this was in reguards to Drift Day, Tyler knows that instructor aswell

And you've also gone to racing school, right?

I got into the whole karting/drifting thing. I'm intrigued by it. I'm like Paul Newman now. I've been to different race schools, stunt driving schools, stuff like that.

I know you're bicoastal; where do you like to go driving when you get some free time?

I like to tear up the New Jersey Turnpike. And there's that nice spot between the Lincoln Tunnel and the George Washington Bridge — that nice straightaway. I know when the cops are doin' their shift changes. I go in there sometimes 1, 2 in the morning.

On the West Coast, the 405, the 710 freeway, the 5 freeway, the 10 freeway; there's so many places, so many roads. There's also a lot of CHP, but the CHP have been pretty cool. They don't really trip. You do get some love, man, 'cause there's a lot of troopers who are either car guys or bike guys.

And I do a lot of drifting on my own; I've been making a series of little drift tapes and stuff. I'm thinking about marketing them and putting them out. I've been putting music to them, getting a lot of tracks from different producers. If an artist has a new single he wants to promote, I'll throw that on there. A lot of people are like, "Yo, did you just do that?" when I get out of the car. I wanna start a new trend with these drift tapes.
Everything sounds cool 'cept for the fact he mentioned some freeways. But you can't hate on the mixtape thing cause I'm pretty sure that if you had the ability to, you'd release you're own too. I know I would. I'm actually waiting for drift mixtapes like how skateboarding got big by skaters giving promoters their own tapes.

Tyson Beckford Injured in Truck Accident

hope hes ok and hope it had nothing too do with his drifting videos i keep hearing about.

SECAUCUS, N.J. - Tyson Beckford was injured after his truck crashed into a utility pole and burst into flames.

Beckford, 34, lost control of his Dodge Ram shortly before 5 a.m. Monday and skidded into the pole, according to police reports. The truck caught fire, and Beckford was able to pull himself out before it became fully engulfed in flames, police Detective Thomas O'Keeffe said.

Beckford, a West New York resident, was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was treated for head trauma and cuts, O'Keeffe said.

Hospital officials couldn't be reached for comment Tuesday morning.

Beckford was a model for Ralph Lauren. In 1995, he was named one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People."
