mann i dont understand why people are calling out rap as the killer of drifting ??? as far as i knew rap was just a style of music that people like myself and many others listen too ?? just dont blame rap on the murder of drifting because rap is just a type of freedom of speech or style of music that people listen to for entertainment.

i guess im just venting but im tired of reading about how badd rap is and the negative effect it has on drifting ??? how do you figure

edit: i think your just hating on the host of street fury cause hes black, bastards haaha ( im black by the way), also the host of the formula d show sucks too so i wanna see some more of calling him out, finally im not saying that the show is all that good i mean i watched it cause i was intrested and never saw it before, but ya all you have to do is tunr the channel and beat off to some scrambled porn, and just not waste your time

I was happy with the tv show.

          Couple of things.

If I was new to drifting, I would want to see more drifting, more styles of drifting, more information on competition kind of, and explanation of how exactly drifting was happening, and not necessarily a full review of every driver, it seemed.

But as a driver, I was very happy with the results. I'm trying to tell all of my friends to watch it. I Tivo'd it so I could show other friends also.

all in all, it was done alot better than I had anticipated considering the channel and it's format (not meant to be a crack, just that it's a game/tech channel vs. Speedvision producing it). I understand it's target market and such, so somethings are out of touch, but I also understand you have to keep the sponsors happy, they pay the bills.

            good points:
-all drifting video clips were good, unlike Street Fury which showed spins
-no models, I can see them on "Wild on E!"
-Alex, Moto, Sam, and Rhys talking about drifting, they understand it
-some people commented that it was boring because they are already into drifting. well I run into people everyday that still don't know what it is. so if this helps promote the sport positively to more people, let it

points that could use some improvement:
-the host, Rossi Morreale, (claim to fame: Temptation Island 2), I'm sure there are dozens of more experienced people on the subject that would be more than happy to host the show, I'd do it for free (as long as you pay my airfare)
-the voice of formula drift, Jared Deanda, this guy needs to go back to MTV and try out for the "I wanna be a VJ" contests
-more mentioning of the best drivers (and why they are the best, i.e. racing backgrounds). most skilled, not most visible. show people what hard work and experience warrants

            future episodes:
The second show will focus on some of the drivers up close and in a more personal way. The third show is more of a how-to as 2 Formula D pros teach one of their friends how to drift. The fourth show will reveal some of the origins of drifting in Japan and where it has grown to today.
-format sounds good so far, keep it up
-this may be in the works for future episodes once the season starts (not sure), but invite drivers to the show to comment/host, like most other motorsports programs do

Thank you all for the feedback!

So, as promised...I was listening and most of your complaints are addressed as we get closer to airing Wall, NJ.

Too much crammed into one show:
Think of the 1st four shows as a 2 hour kick-off to the season. The 1st show was just a look back at 2004 and a hint toward 2005. The second show will look at some key drivers even more in-depth...where they live, what they do to feed themselves, etc. The 3rd show will begin to into how to drift: techniques, skills, etc...But you can't teach someonw how to drift in a half hour, so this will be an overview of the skill behind the sport. Hopefully it's fun as well...we didn't want it to be too dry. The 4th show gets at the history of the sport by going to Japan with a US driver and getting to see where it started, where it has gone, and we had a little fun in Japan along the way.

Those 4 shows are our "intro" to drifting as a sport and the 2005 season. The 5th show is Wall, NJ. I did this because just dumping a new viewer into the 1st event without any prep would have been a bit much to bite off. On top of wanting to cover every top 16 run fully, we need to explain the course, the venue, the top qualifiers, an overview of top 32, etc...all in 44 minutes of airtime. No one would have been happy cutting into the actual drifitng coverage to accomplish all of that. So we started our coverage early to build the knowledge of the new viewers. There is so much to cover there will be additional episodes in-between events just to fit it all in.

Don't think the show is marketed to the experienced:
It isn't, but I still want drivers to like it. For example, it will take us 3 weeks to edit and broadvast Wall, NJ. You guys will already know who won, but hopefully we will make a good enough show that you will still want to watch it....and tell your friends to watch it.

Not enough in / on car footage; not enough drifting:
if you think of these as the intro, we're saving the really neat stuff for the event coverage, We will have in / on car in every top 16 run, and i'm even looking at the possibility of releasing the long-form run footage to the web. We will have multiple track angles to follow the cars from the outside. However, if you dont see something that you want to see..just ask and we'll try it at the next event. No promises, but if it makes for better coverage we will explore it.

              make FDTV an hour:
Ask and ye shall receive: Formula D Events will be an hour and pre-empt Street Fury.

              The Host:
Hoting a TV show is LOT harder than it looks. I know, I did it for a year plus of my life on and another year on radio. All I can say now is the next 3 shows dont have much hosting at all if any, and the situation will be different for the events and thereafter. As for casting drivers, I thought about this. We will continue to turn to the drivers for expert commentary once the season starts. If / When one of you "retires" from drifting, there might be a hosting gig for you

              *whew*

I was very impressed by Jarod at the LBGP..He represented the scene in a very professional manner.

                  As for the TV show..

G4 took a huge risk on Drifting..
There is not a major TV market for the series.
So they added some fluff to get the average viewers to check it out.
                  Very smart.

If you try to please everyone you will please no one.

                  That's my motto...

not too bad, 3 out of 5 stars.

I tuned in with a grain of salt. I was expecting something that was going to KILL drifting. Pleasently though, it was pretty decent. The host was retarded and IMHO shouldnt be on there. I'd rather see someone thats not as confident or whatever that knows what he's talking about rather than this rossi character. Other than that, Im really glad you had legit people commenting on the sport. they really put it down right. I dont really mind that it was mainly discussing the very very basics of what drifitng is and a retrospect piece on the 04 season, it was an intro after all. I'm almost excited about the upcoming episodes, and that NEVER happens.

As for the event coverage. a good view (a page taken out of japanese videos I've seen,) is a camera mounted on the fender angled twards the wheel to capture the countersteer. IMO it'd give it a legit lookin effort grouped with a couple more smart in/on car camera views. That and you better be in the judge's faces asking exactly why "insert name here" won the round ect, and while they explain show realevent replays.

Dont even get me started on street fury. TAKE IT OFF THE AIR PLEASE>>

As the saying goes "different strokes for different folks" and this applys to Street Fury. I think the demographics for street fury would be better targeted towards an earlier time slot for the younger kids. I do understand though that there is an "Automotive time block" Formula D will bring in the viewers and hopefully they will stay around for street fury. Perhaps if ratings goes well, a more performance oriented automotive magazine type show could do better than street fury (like grip video ). Btw i recognized some of that footage, glad it was put to good use.

I think the host did a very good job, i know that hosting is not easy. He was easy to understand, kept the momentum going, he was comfortable in front of the camera, and acted like a good medium for people who have never seen drifting before in thier life. I'm just happy you have him hosting and not verena. Nothing against her, she's a nice girl and all, but her voice is just too high pitched for me to listen to for 1/2 hour every time.

i gotta say that the show was actually pretty good

things that should be corrected to make it more apealing to all

-show more than one turn in a run

seems like every shot of the cars was of just one turn instead showing the cars linking drifts from turn to turn. not only is this agrivating to people that know the sport, its also rather misleading to those ignorant of what drifting really is. i can just picture in my head someone watching and saying "big deal he can power slide around a corner, i can do that in my 5.0"... to be honest i used that quote from a friend who saw the show.

                            - the host needs to go

i was fully expecting to see some clueless bimbo hosting. this would be an improvement in my opinion. instead we get this cocky dude who doesnt seem to know the 1st thing about the sport. whether hes been to every event or not, he doesnt come off as a fan or at all passionate about the opportunity to be part of the show. i think the majority of people would rather see a more humble yet informed guy out there who would just kill to be interviewing future legends of drifting. even if his on screen experience wasnt as high. look at some of your own shows for great examples. adam sesler(sp?)makes a pretty good host and hes by no means a pretty boy. whether the reviews he does are scripted or not he atleast comes off as a real video gamer.
ok im babling now ill shutup. but i gotta say that other host, the guy from street fury, now thats a really sucky host.

umm thats it for now im off to my crappy job and then its an 8 hour drive to formula d nj

I'm on a temporary leave of absence from driving for the next couple of years, does that count? (there will be plenty of time to drive later)

                                on "street fury"
How did you let street fury on the air the audio wasn't even public cable access quality tell Big C whatever too stop yelling in a mic btw nothing against drinking but getting dunk while in the middle of a hot girl and car photo shoot is great but not if you still have on camera stand ups (work sucks I know).

G4 how did you ever let that air it makes him look bad, G4TV look bad, and Whipset in general look bad. I love the concept but you guys really need too look at your production level you can not sell 1 hour of TV too drifting and car guys and have 1/2 the hour with poor sub standard productions its not a rap thing or black thing it’s a poor production quality thing and I hope he and other reading this see it for what it truly is.

I rather see the last 1/2 hour with in car camera video or more events from last year since the new season hasn’t started yet. I hope you worked with Speed Production truck on using there feed if soo you have more then enough footage too use for an hour of Formula D that way you can loose street fury all together let Big C keep his check and walk away better too wash out his show then alienate what viewers you can keep as you get the ball rolling. BTW LOOSE THAT PROMO man I hate that thing. Ok I’m done now OH and bring some FD cars too E3 some free advice I’m sure you thought of already.
