So in some instances it is good to separate the classes to allow the privateer a chance to shine. Maybe we should look at that over here in the US soon.
Just my experience

privateers out here would shine any day on the american pros... the sad part is the privateers out here are still teenagers

actually a majority of the field in Formula D are privateers. So far this season, i think all FD winners have not been privateers.

Why are they trying to make classes? D1 does not need to have 2 or more classes, it is the most difficult league of drifting so why have a lower class just to try to runout the other series. Someone needs to find out what is actually going on.

Do these rules apply to D1 or a different "street" class in D1?
When will these rules be applied or are they already?
Are you classed based on what car you built, or driver ability?

I agree, we really need to find out what is going on so there will be no confusion during the USA vs. Japan this December or the Driver Search prior to that.

Whoa..everyone is kind of freaking out a little here dont you think?

Reality check: D1 is Japanese! who cares if they make another class, they only have 2..maybe 3 events out here a year at best anyway.

I can understand concern about the US vs Japan event like Hubert mentioned but, if they have two seperate classes then all the US guys who have competed agains the D1 pros before will probably just be put in the upper divison and go head up against the same teams they went head up again last year.

If anything the main difference would be in the drivers search. As in people would have a choice now as how much money they want to put into it.

Lets be honest..it was kind of flawed before.

Example: Some guy who doesn't have a lot of money comes out with his 240 that he probably put 6 or 7 grand into..manages to qualify..only to get knocked out by the bigger budget teams. Unless a privateer has a lot of money or gets a major sponsor after winning a drivers search..he/she doesn't have much of a chance once they get to the big show.

When you think about it the D1 drivers search as it was, was really just a spring board to help drivers get picked up by bigger teams or land major sponsors so they could build a more competitive car and be on the same level.

But with a different class there is actually a choice.

You can A: build the best car within your means and compete in the street legal class and have a better chance of getting a victory

Or B: Spend more money to go after the big dogs right away..or if your just that confident in your car the way it is put it up against the taniguchis and the kumakubos up there.

Thats all just a theory though so yeah you're right all the USA pro teams should contact D's club and figure out what the situation is going to be

All I'm tryin to say is we dont need more and more leagues of drifting. Anyone in America can sign up and qualify at a Formula D, and they tour across the whole country.

But back to the topic... whats up with these rules???

When I say flawed I dont mean D1 as a whole or as a series, I simply meant the whole drivers search situation.

I really dont think they are trying to make this street legal thing into a series to compete against Formula D. D1 is pretty much 100% Japanese, I honestly dont think they would make these new rules and use them to start up a series in America.

Anyway you're right..everyone wants to know the story with the rules and is more interested in that rather than what we think these rules might mean in the long run so I guess we gotta wait until tomorrow to see what the story is.

I hope these regulations are for a "Street" class or series, because from the stuff being posted, it seems like it would take away from the illustrious modifications being done to the cars now. I don't kow, it just seems like it wouldnt be as kool to see the cars....

I don't think it is a new series but rather a class to compete with the big boys for point incentives. Probably to draw some of the bm hai grassroot crowd back to D1
