Im not against swapping engines but to put a chevy motor into something that around here is known as a domestic killing rocket and something thats soul and purpose was no pistons its a shame to see a turbo FD3s go. And if all that doesnt make that ls1 surpass 400 horses then thats kinda sad... no offence
Considering the fact that in the US it isnt easy for a normal owner to properly care for a TT rotary engine....if I were that FD id be HAPPY to recieve a more reliable, easier maintained engine.
In fact, it was the low sales coupled with the high costs of warranty repairs for Mazda that killed the FD in the first place.
You really have to wonder about the thought process that came up with a twin turbo rotary. "Hmm, we have an engine that has a naturally stratospheric compression ratio, very little torque, runs hot, and has oiling problems because of its unique layout. Let's TURBOCHARGE it!"

hahaha thats really funny/true.
but all you guys saying that its not "ethical" to put a chevy motor in a mazda. you sound like fuking mormons debating cloning. its a car, its gunna be loud, its gunna be fast, its gunna be sick, who the fcuk cares, seriosuly. i say its looking sick and keep up the good work. btw my dad has owned a corvete (C4) and curently owns a RX8, so i've driven both cars and i know both thier characteristics well.

I think 400 hp to the wheels with only a cam, valve springs, ti retainers, headers, and intake is doing damn well. Thats around 460hp at the crank.
Also keep in mind it also has 400 ft torque to the wheels too.
Should be more than enough power in a 2400 ond car.
ja92s13: Thanks bro. When are you coming out to altamont again?
Can't wait what kind of damage this baby can do!!!! Hope to see it running by the Thanksgiving track day. You and the Docta from NCDA with the LS1 powered FC will be a cool pair to look out for next season. Hope Formula D is not going to put the "same manuf. motor" rule in effect, so you guys can smoke it up at the events!
Why Formula D would want to pass a rule like that? It's street legal to swap non manufacturer specific engines as long as it's newer than the chassis. That sucks cause some very good cars would be in violation from Hibino's and the Irish lad Darren with sr20det powered ae86's, to Seigo's sr20det powered falkentire FD.
