The Cavalier is small displacement FWD sport compact. What are you guys smoking?
There is a single turbo kit out for LS1's right now that puts down over 700 rwhp on the STOCK LS1 MOTOR. Not that 700 rwhp makes the car drift any better, but do you see any Cavalier's doing that?! NOPE!
The key for the GTO will be suspension and weight balance. And since they are being backed by GM, you can pretty much guarantee these things will be addressed. Look how much R&D went into the C5-R ....

But okay a muscle car is all about straight line.. and sence this is the return of the muscle car, i was kindof excepting alot more then what it did. and for alot cheaper.. Well obviously your a GM fan, i wonder how you feel about its price/performance I mean its like 33k.. which puts it in the same field as the new STI and the EVO, actualy the evo is abit cheaper, MSRP anyways. But the EVO runs better quarter mile times.. and handles much much better... i think i saw .81 G on the skidpad for the GTO, ill try to remember where i saw these numbers at, and a 83 MPH in the slalom run.. the EVO is closer to .95 and 71+ mph...
And though you and i would both argue its a muscle car handling isnt really its thing, And if it ran faster quarter mile times then the EVO, let alone the STI i could understand that. but it doesnt. and the thing is heavy like 3700+
I dont know man, i was really dissapointed, if the car cost 25k or something maybe it would be another story, then its only competting with the WRX and the base model rx-8 and 350z..
Anyways i was dissapointed and im not even a big GM fan. But i'd love to hear what you think about it thing crazyhawaii. i mentioned earlier i like your post.
Now all that said this doesnt mean i dont think it can be a competitive drift vehichle, take care of its weight and keep it balanced and its got plenty of torque and a rear wheel drive setup.
