top 32 tandem, then in 10 years when there are even more drivers of that skill level, do 64 tandem.

top 64 tandem = 32 + 16 MORE tandem battles. Right now, there are 16 battles total and it takes 3 hours to run. you want to quadruple the tandem battles? that means you're looking at 8-10 hours of tandem... that's going to get old.

and 1 vs 64 would NOT be a good battle.

I'd rather see 3 or 4 different 'divisions' each with top 16 competition, than see 1 huge tandem ladder.

heh I wish I did, my response was build another car, now I am broke, car isnt completed and I havnt been driving for 2 months car should be running soon but it will be a while till it is pretty. at least I can work on the setup while I am waiting to be able to afford paint and aero.

top 16 tandem is cool but I would like to see a top 32 sub comp of some kind, maybe get some exposure and extra practice to the top 32 qualifiers during the main event. Keep it the same way where top 32 qualify down to top 16 for tandem but then add in 16 more tandem battles in before and inbetween top 16,8,4 runs to place the rest of the field in a 1-32 spots. I dunno just an idea it would get everyone more tandem practice and make for more drifting for the fans.

leave it top 16. 32 is way too many. this isnt wcw vs nwo on n64, its freaking drifting.

+1 on team competition. THERE is your tandem seat time everyone is complaining about not getting, even though this is 2006, and its not hard to find local drift days to drag a couple frinds to to practice with, but since were apparently trying to act like those dont exist and formula d shoudl be all about seat time, forget i mentioned that.

Its not exactley practice seat time, its seat time in front of fans and media to help build a following, so those drivers that cant afford to be competitive can build sponsors and support so they can be competitive.

ill put this plain and simple

there is no such thing as cant afford to be competitive.

5500 dollar total investment el camino 8th place in last years points.

i have a freind putting a shoudl be about 420rwhp ls1 in an s chassis for under 5k.

ryan tureck got top 8 at sonoma in his DAILY DRIVER.

pfiefers old corolla, theres a lot of money tied up

look at how truly simple tanners car is.

anyone could build a FD competitive s chassis for 5k if they wanted to put forth the effort. but they wouldnt have the cool body kit and wheel offset everyone seems to put in priority over good suspension and decent power.

you didnt need an s14 last year with a stock ka. could have sold the 14, used the money to build an equally prepped 13 but with a motor.

hell theres maybe 6k in my car if that, not that id call it a competitive drift car with the problems.

seriously. if you have a liscence but "no car" get an s13, put an sr/kat/ls1/whatever in it, get 300rwhp (easy way = cheap ka-t with headgasket and pistons) run 245 mustang take offs on the back with no air in them so they actually have some grip from a used tire store, on mustang wheels, put a cage/seat in it, run on springs/shocks or used coilovers and use 10 dollar tie rod spacers and a welded diff. all of your safety stuff can be had at a dirt track store for under 500 bux. theres your competitive car.

and if you car, maaco paint. if your building a drift car nice paint shoulnt be priority seeing its probably giogn to hit a wall/jump off a cliff/catch on fire anyways.

Well I sucked it up and built a new car, I decided if I wanted to drive then I needed to spend the money, I think closer to 8-10k would be more likely for someone comming out and wanting to have a chance to compete, and when I say competitive I mean competitive with the Top 8 competitors. Its not just the parts money, its the r&d and setup which I know you can understand as you have been setting up a new car. Its hard without lots of money to come out and be on top on skill alone. I am taking the next season to dial in the new car and make sure its reliable and I am comfortable in it and then I will be back hopefully better than ever. In the mean time its a great opportunity to hopefully win some ametuer comps and try to pick up some monetary sponsorships to pay for entrance fee and travel ect. I am not complaining one bit, your right I shouldnt have been in FD last year with a stock ka s14, but that was my daily and thats what I have been driving for the past 2 yrs. I learned in that car and got my license in that car and frankly drove the *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored* out of it till the car was holding me back. Most people cant honestly say that, they may think the car is holding them back but in reality its not true. Now I am stepping up with a much better prepped car hoping to get more recognition. Last season was a huge learning experience and like I have said before FD is headed in the right direction and I think the Pro-Am next season if it works out correctly will be a great venue for learning and being more prepared for actual Pro Competition

cool beans. theres still a lot of people that for some reason or other instead of buying suspension/power/safety, they buy springs/wheels/bodykit then redo their suspension, then power, but with 205's.

                    i just dont get it.

I would have to agree with you on that, the green car was stock ka but I was running 225's and full suspension, no aero, with quality coilovers. And at the licensing comp where I got my license I was entering faster than 300-400hp cars??? I dont get it, I tell everyone to drive the ka till you are good, power can make you look good but doesnt mean you really are, power compensates for skill in a big way. I want to see that damn s13 of yours driving! When you comming to socal with the car?

i agree with you, peopel dont know how to keep the gas pedal down on entry. i liked your approach on green car, but it needed more balls.

i dont know, i want to play on horsetheif with it but its still got some bugs to fix. now that the season is over i actually have time to take stuff apart, and if it doesnt work right redo it instead of tryign to make it work thru one event. hopefully dec/jan ill come out there, i really wanna do horsethief.

Yeah horsethief is sooo much fun, probably the most fun I have had at the track in a long time... anyway enough thread jacking. btw I need to grind my stops down more on the s14 I need a little more angle you will have to teach me the secrets, that s13 has massive angle.
