Initialdrift, consider this your one and only warning. If you don't like what he said then too bad, no reason for you to write what you wrote.
Secondly, if YOU knew half of what you are talking about then you might be dangerous. If you read the original post and actually thought about it you would figure out what happened. Too much countersteer was not the root of the problem. Tires grip, so when a vehicle is going sideways and loses so much of the sideways momentum and the tires start spinning on an ff, it will roll forward. Now with that being said, too much countersteer aggravates that and causes more damage once the car loses sideways momentum. So too much oversteer is not the root cause. It is an effect, not a cause. Not enough momentum OR no use of the E-brake is the root cause of that problem. If he would have used the E-brake more than he would have been able to counter the snap-back better. Keep the sideways momentum and stop the rear wheels periodicaly and you can keep a pretty good drift in an FF. You will scrub speed off alot more than an FR but it can be done.
There are plenty of videos where you can watch good technique on FF drifting, I have seen some posted here. Check those out for ways to counter snap-back.Last edited by Ghost of Duluth; 05-19-2004, 04:31 PM.

So let me get this straight, you did a 100 ft long Drift, in the middle of a crowded street and an intersection into a neighborhood with friends in the car?
I hope you realize how stupid you sound. Not only are you endangering the lives of who ever was in that intersection, coming out of that neighborhood, the guy in the Civic AND not to mention the lives of your friends, you also endangered your own.
No wonder the guy in the Civic was shaking his head, I would be too. Well, if you came close to my car, I would have gotten out and shaken yours as well. That was probably the stupidest move that anyone on here has written down. Yay, your Drift was long, too bad your thought process wasn't.
I would like to introduce you all to one of the people that will give Drifting a bad name. Mr GT here. Thanks alot, you are the exact type of person that we are trying to weed out.Last edited by Ghost of Duluth; 05-19-2004, 04:41 PM.

no no no no. the road is dead. no body ever goes down it til later in the day. there was nobody around and the civic was across the street. the street i was turning off of was a "main road" where the limit is 45.
Besides, there is nowhere to take corners like that unless you drive 3 hours to go to the canyon.

And this was all on a public road, a busy street, then the turn on to the neighborhood road. the road is so wide...and there are alot of those like 3 blocks from my house.
Lemme give you some advice. Bicycles don't pedal backwards very well so don't try to change story now. You tried to wow everyone and you didn't get the response that you wanted. So at least stick with your original story and apologize, it's more manly.
I don't like slamming on people but I had to to make you realize how horribly irresponsible your post sounded. It makes you sound like a punk redneck. It all starts with a dare and you are lucky that it didn't end up with a wreck, injury, death or all 3.
I know Drifitng happens on the street, everyone does, but for gods sake don't endanger someone else. You are one thing, others are completely different. Think before you leap.Last edited by Ghost of Duluth; 05-19-2004, 04:52 PM.

There is no reason to hate on Mr GT before everyone starts. This is the kind of mis-informed person that we need to take under the collective wing of Drifting and show him the way. His actions don't make him a bad person, just not informed. This is the very thing that Drifters are going to have to battle from now on out, mis-informed people who either don't know about Drifting, don't know how to Drift safely or just plain don't like anything car related in general. It is those people who are going to take the biggest chunks out of our hides.
The only way we can do this is to take it safely, to the track and let the people at the top most spire of the sport lead by example. I see no problems with the top guys doing this, they are all level headed and smart about what they do and how they are perceived. You have to be to be at the top of your game.
So, try and not do something stupid, and if you do, don't post it. You are inviting ridicule, trouble and the cops may even tag your car for retrieval if you have posted a photo of it. So keep as low a profile as possible. That is the only way we will weather this storm at the street level.

Exactly. You can get tossed. Also you did change the story. Read what you wrote. It went from a busy street entrance into a neighborhood and there are many turns like that 3 blocks from your house, then you changed it to a deserted (during the middle of the day) road that no one was on.
If you don't want to be classified in with the Redneck way of thinking then don't act like one.Last edited by Ghost of Duluth; 05-19-2004, 06:03 PM.
