It just may not be as common.
Yeah, they used a DOUBLE K-Rail with space inbetween them for that area...not just one single solitary one as in the situation in the video.

i was using a 10mm lens if you know anything about photography you know who close you have to get for these pictures.

this was the last run at the competition.

i was against the barrier and the barrier and me were shoved back upon impact.
    Firstly...bring a longer lens dude!

Secondly, as was stated before you're not supposed to lean up against the barriers like that. Even though those are amazing shots it could have gone really badly because you tried to get so close.

Thirdly the concrite barriers they use for the Long Beach Grand Prix course are NOT K-Rails. Their barriers are much thicker and much heavier than the traditional K-Rail.

Plus they're FLAT which means they wont ramp up a open wheel car or drift car for that matter.

Look guys..I'm not saying drivers aren't gonna hit the barriers at Formula D or that there wont be accidents.

My point is that people who know what they're doing AKA Formula D/IRL/Legit Race Track Assocations take extra steps in assuring the safety of Photographers at their events and when it comes to their photo pit areas they design them so they are significantly shored up in case of impact.

The photo area in the above video was CLEARLY not designed in such a way.

Jason Beatty, who normally drives the Ksport S14.5 but was driving his personal S13 at this event.
