yea that thread was getting really long and interesting...but the announcement of the 2 viper team should set off some more remarks...like if now the mopar guys are even sure that they can beat an s15 at its own game.

indeed very interesting, save the troll at the end.

Also interesting in, the artical this thread is about, is that mopar guys are scouring the net to see what reactions and such are. This is drifting.com if your going to check out drifting on the net, and see the reaction this is the first stop. Thats means our feelings may indeed have impacts on what they do. Meaning a thread like that were we voice our opinions on the viper is even more important. im sure we all have alot more to say.

        just an idea

im not anti-america or anything like that..............but something seems to happen here that turns things around into different things.........and we can all pray that all those old guys who wanna make money just shut their mouths........and move onto something else..........

theyve made all the money they can off of the street racer/F&F scene........so now their new target is drifting

i for one will be boycotting america...........and move to japan........i dont care if the drifting scene there isnt mainstream.........because i would be able to drift without some punk in a riced out honda civic challenging me to drift

sorry if i offended anyone about america.........im just tired and going off on conspiracy theories ^_^

Yeah it's a pretty decent article, cept for the hip hop. I am SO sick of these ghetto morons, I can't even listen to the radio for a second without hearing some ghetto idiot braggin about his "twenty fo's". Not to mention the whole FNF thing. Some of the cars were cool but when you start saying that all it takes is some nitrous on any import car to beat a Hemi Challenger, then you draw the line. When you wreck the domestics and imply that they can't keep up with an evo spyder, you crossed it.

"America’s contemporary motorsports youth culture has taken to Drifting like The Big Chill took to The Temptations: “Let your friends laugh, even this I can stand/‘cause I want to keep you any way I can…” It’s the lyric attitude of Drifting’s newfound, new jack converts."

Wtf do they mean by the above paragraph? I dunno but they missed an important point. Unlike all the ricers that attended the D1, a true drifter doesn't care where it's made or who built it, just as long as it goes sideways. The rivalries all end when the tires start smokin, and then it's all about skill.

Btw everybody that goes to Japan prepare to enjoy their 12 hour school days, economy as bad or worse than ours, gas prices that are through the roof, and the toll roads everywhere, not to mention a general lack of space. Japan is cool no doubt about it, but it's not perfect. I'm sure there's alot of Japanese that want to come to this country. We Americans often complain about our country but fail to realize how good we have it.

I totally agree with you on that you shouldn't care about where or how it was made, just if it can drift. And about it not being mainstream in Japan, i don't know from personal experience but from what i have seen people in japan say. The U.S. drifting scene isn't anywhere close to being as commercialized as it is in Japan. So why don't you people quit sitting and complaining and go out and do what you love doing, DRIFTING!!!

Hip Hop??? WTF? Theyre all about 20's and Bling and Speakers so loud you cant hear your engine when its about to throw a rod through the hood! I mean i listen to a little of everything. But who the F*** associates Hip Hop to drifting?? Then to try and label us as.... another fad thats picked up by the "young generation" This guy deserves a swift kick in the balls.

If you recal by the movie (which, sad to say, I saw 5 times) the challenger and the camaro both smoked the imports, and the only way for them to beat 'em was to cheat. Btw, I loved that part where the guy, "fonzie" as he was called, was revving and totally wiped the smile off of the guy driving the spyder's face. i loved it!

(oh man...i hope i dont get flamed for talking about 2F2F here...please...I only liked the cars!)

Ever see the episode with Funk Flex and nelly when they drag. LOL 17 and a high 14. Im pretty sure an evo, and probably a spyer, can take that.

I got a kick out of that too, i was entertained by the movie, it just wasnt a acurate protrayal of anything..

Lol the "oh sht" look on his face was hilarious though, the dumb thing was the idea that a evo 7 and a eclipse spyder are of equal performance...

lol i agree... how do u compare AWD evo with a FF spyder? thats funny. i ahted that article too... i read the first 3 paragraphs... all bs... i cant stand people who think hip hop is associated with anything car related. like u guys said... driftin 24 inch spinners with bass so loud that your gunna have an anurism from the pressure on your ears drums is just ridiculous... next thing your gunna see is so hip hop freak tryin to drift his 240 with naaawwwsss and hydraulics... hittin switches and *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*. hittin side to side going sideways... whoa... that would be pretty interesting to see...

You know, i'm not really too worried about the ricer crowd getting into drifting. Here's why, a while ago i was driving through town and a civic with lowering springs and neon underglow came screaming through the downtown area of my fairly small community, he then pulled the e-brake to turn his car and due to the bodyroll he created, smashed his fancy lights under his car. I think that when these kids start breaking more and more of the $2,000 bodykits they're putting on all their civics and whatever then they'll slowly stop trying to drift. Drifting is a heck of a lot harder than driving in a straight line FNF style and so darwinism will take over, just give it time.

but darwinism can be applied here because of the modified "survival of the fittest". survival meaning the survival of the car and the fit meaning the cars able and set up correctly to drift. if the car isnt meant to drift, it will break...eventually, it always does...and the owner will learn not to "try" to drift his rice civic. see, biology class actually paid off!
